Water Heater

Was wondering if anyone has run into this before. This is an Atwood water heater and the door does not close properly as the heat shielding makes contact with the screen before the door is closed all the way? Looked to see if the shielding could be adjusted to move it back but that does not seem to be possible?
Is it possible the wrong shield is installed on the unit?

Shield was not properly installed

Top should be flush/slightly inside the water heater frame
Sides should be tight/flush with drawn pan

I would remove it completely and reinstall ....drilling new holes if necessary

I wonder how that easy-to-see blunder passed manufacture and dealer inspections. It makes you wonder what else is wrong.

Sorry Park for bashing what you just bought. Hopefully it's the only blunder.

I removed the entire flu and there is no way to make it fit without doing some cutting. I am still wondering if it is the wrong part for this heater? Unfortunately there is no identification part numbers stamped on it. I am trying to reach Domitic for some advise.

What is the exact model number?
Is it a GC6A-10E, GC10A-4E?
ALL Atwood 6 & 10 gal models use SAME Exhaust Shield

IS it a WH-6GEA?
That is a brand new Dometic Model...replacing the old Atwood 6 gal
It uses a completely different exhaust shield
**which does NOT look like yours

If the RV is still under warranty, I'd have them correct it the next time you're in for service.
