That is difficult to answer without more clarification or pictures. We don't know where the drip you refer to is in relation to the spongy floor.
You may want to search "find a water leak" on this forum. I saw a bunch of posts come up that may help you figure it out.
I would say at minimum you need to access the underside of the floor if possible an see where moisture or black mold is on the wood.
