We are Back and WOOHOO what a trip.....

We (two couples, two Class C's) just returned from a 15,000 +/- mile , 3 month vacation. We headed out from NE Florida/SE Georgia to Nashville, on to Yellowstone, Glacier, Banff Canada, Alaska Highway (mile 0 to Fairbanks), of course any points in between, The Arctic Circle, Denali, Anchorage, Kenai Peninsula, Down the west coast to the Redwood Forrest, across to Reno, and pointed our nose's to the Southeast and back to NE Florida (home). Middle of May to the middle of August. We called it 'The Grand Adventure' and boy was it ever. We actually did not have enough time to see everything, but we sure know where we want to head back to for longer stays.

Some of the highlights were the month we spent in Alaska ..... we will go back for a in depth stay on the Kenai in the future. The States of Washington and Oregon, after seeing just the coast, deserve a full vacation by themselves. The Southwest we blew through so fast heading home (you know that old plug horse syndrome headed back to the barn) deserve a few weeks exploring the lesser visited parks for sure.

We had a fantastic time with our travel buddies. We did see all the big ticket items on our pre-planned lists. Oh did I mention the 40 plus BEARS, both Black and Grizzly, we saw and have pictures to prove it). The amount of pictures we took will for sure take weeks to cull and edit. I mean really how many pictures of mountains, forests, and critters does one need to tell a story. A lot of our friends and family were living vicariously through our FaceBook posts and pictures, lol.

Our Class C's performed great with no major issues, although I did have to replace my front tires, in California, due to an alignment issue (lesson learned, check ALL systems prior to departure). My 2017 Thor 31L w/Triton V-10 gasser ran like a top . Getting 8-10+/- mpg depending on conditions and speed. Our travel buddies driving a 2018 Coachman 27QB with a V-8 gasser got around 10-11+/- MPG and no issues to speak of.

Seeing as both couples are retired, we are already planning the next 'Grand Adventure'. Most likely we will be heading up the eastern seaboard and explore the Canadian Maritime Provinces. Anyone want to caravan with us?

OH YEAH, did I mention we love vacationing in our RV's.........

Sounds like the trip of a lifetime, with more to come. Congratulations. We did the same thing with 2 other couples for 8 years until health reasons forced one of them to quit rv'ing and the other to slow way down. We usually would do a 5 to 6 week trip each year. Enjoy it while you can.

We took so many "vacations" that I finally decided to just call them trips so our friends and neighbors didn't think we were abusing the privilege.

We used ATT and travel buddies had Verison. Coverage was spotty at best, both services use wide brushes when they draw up those 'national coverage maps'. Mountainous travel does not lend itself well to constant service.

Know that it is expensive (yes we had international option) to use your american plan in Canada ($10.00 a day per phone plus data). A prepay canadian phone is not as expensive as our plans were while traveling Canada. So our 'USA' phones went into airplane mode until we were back Stateside.

Ask away ..... we for sure over packed but then again would rather have too much then not enough and have to supplement on the road.

We did not bring a toad, a few times it would have been handy. We did carry our bicycles, we used them when we could.

Finding parking was never a problem and quite a few nights we spent in pull outs or other available spots through out Canada and Alaska. Our camping fees for the whole trip were under $1K. Walmart and other big box stores allow parking overnight in the states, ask first and look for 18 wheelers in the outer parking lots. Never had a problem.

Great trip. Hopefully we'll be doing something similar in 2019.
