In general, a regular class C is a box on the back of a modified van chassis. For the most part it is an entry level RV with limited capabilities. "Super" C are built generally built on more substantial truck chassis and can offer substantial weight carrying and towing capabilities. They can rival many class A's in capabilities and amenities.

A SuperC will be on a semi-truck frame, usually by Freightliner. They can be up to 45ft long.

A C will be on box truck frame, usually by Ford or Mercedes (older ones can be on Chevy). They can be as small as 25 or 26ft.

I believe a Super C is built on a truck Cab/Chassis and a C is built on a van chassis .

I'll look for pictures .

EDIT : Three posts in two minutes , boy I type slowly.

Some Super Cs are built on what resembles a pickup truck chassis.

Some are built on the chassis commonly used for flat bed tow trucks and current-production ambulances.

Some are built on full sized semi-truck chassis.

Super Cs vary quite a lot with regards to capability.

My understanding of Class A, B, C. Class A are built on a chassis, with no chassis OEM body parts. Class B are built mostly inside of a van body, mostly OEM body parts. Class C are built on a CUT AWAY van, or CAB and chassis.

Super C is just a bigger chassis and frame than a "one ton" model- E350,D300,3500. So anything from a 450 up to a 15liter diesel and manual transmission truck cab and chassis.

B+ as far as I can tell is just a class C without an overhang over the cab, or it's a class C on a sprinter chassis instead of a big three chassis. Seems to me most B+ are really C, but I'm not the guy in marketing.

Interesting.... Not all Freightliner (semi-truck) based C's are Super C's, and unless you really know your trucks, you can't tell the difference.

BTW: You can still buy brand new C's on a Chevy cut-a-way chassis but is a rare bird. One is a BTCruiser 5220.

Back then, Chevy was still building a great engine/chassis used by many RV manufacturers. Many times the buyer had options to choose between Ford or Chevy. Then, Chevy decided to exit the business leaving the industry to Ford. As mentioned above there are some still using Chevy but of the ones I know of are on very small chassis.
