What is your 'must have' tool?

The single most used tool is a simple knife with a screw driver coming in 2nd.

After that comes: pliers, tape, hammer, sockets, volt-meter, flashlight, etc etc..

If you knew you would be stranded, what tool or tools would you hope to have?

I might move pliers to 2nd place since the knife often doubles as a screw driver.

My leatherman tool...large slot screwdriver, small slot reversible phillips, knife, serrated blade, scissors, saw blade, pliers, semi needle nose, wire cutter all in one tool I carry on my belt...oops forgot one of the most important accessories BOTTLE CAP OPENER!!

You guys are fun! We have ooooodles of tools. My hubby and sons are total gearheads, and while I realize their is much to learn, I think we have alot of the basics. I just have to remind them to put them in the rig. There are so many widgets you can buy for this things its crazy!

Must have one of those multi-tipped screwdrivers, that also can tighten certain bolts too when you pull the tip out. AND I have this little battery powered drill that has done a multitude of simple tasks. (Doesn't take much more space than a can of beer/soda to give you a reference. )

Not at the very TOP of the list, but an assortment of plastic zip ties and a vise grip plier can be very handy if you are creative.

No question - First & always # 1= Duct Tape, 2 bailing wire, 3= vise grips, 4= JB WELD With those 4 you can repair anything long enough to get to some place they can really repair it!

Just one? Flashlight without it all the tools are useless because we all know problems only occur in the dark while it's pouring rain!!


However my 9 inch linemans are the very next thing on the list.

When I was an apprentice electrician I used to get ribbed all the time for having a new tool every week.

I still rationalize all repairs with , I can buy the tool for the amount of labor it would cost to hire someone else

I started working on engines at 14 with lawnmowers and cars at 16 so that is another ball game with tool collection. It is more, for me, what tools do I really have to leave behind lol

Duct tape comes to mind, but I can never get her to stand still long enough for me to place it where it will do 'me' the most good.

I always keep a full set of tools in the MH. The 2 most important are a good flashlight, & a multimeter.

I purchased a small tool box just for the essential tools, but found myself trying to shove every tool from the larger tool box in to it. No telling what tool you may need. But the one tool I seem to use around the RV alot is that funny square-headed screw driver. Look around your RV, you'll see the one I'm talking about. Sure wish RV manufactures would use good old all american phillip head screws that we all grew up with.
