Which C for me
Ok Class C fans give me your take. Downsizing from diesel pusher. Not staying in the big resorts anymore during the winter. Want to see sights and stay where the small guys go. Here are my wants: 26 to 30 max length. Good handling (used to air). Inverter, like the smell of the slow cooker without the genny running. Ford Chassis. Will be used weekends and driving Mich to AZ and back for winter season. We dry camp or stay at elks, VFW, etc when driving cross country. My toad is a chevy equilnox. Thanks for suggestions.

We have a 31' Jayco Class C and are very happy with it. The biggest deal is to find a layout that you like.
I haven't had the problem myself but many recommend not having windows in the cab over because they sometimes leak. Ours has an entertainment center in the cab over instead of a bed and we like that.
The inverter that you want is probably the biggest limiting factor in a Class C. Here's a search from rvtrader.

You can always add an inverter, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
Handling - most C class motorhomes (Ford chassis) have horrible handling due to long rear overhangs. Be prepared to get new sway bars, etc. However, the Mercedes Sprinter chassis motorhomes handle pretty good.
We downsized from a diesel pusher to a Winnebago Navion. At 25' it is a little shorter than your specs but it is very well equipped, handles well, tows our Honda Fit just fine, has a wonderful 3L diesel, and gets 14-15 mpg. Might be a little smaller than you want but take a look.

I just did that in September except I went with a Super C with 37 ft length
I downsized from a 40 ft Beaver Patriot to a Seneca DS and am very happy with the move. It drives as good as the Beaver, gets better mileage, happy with the Duramax diesel. It had had all the additions of air bags on rear and stabilizations done before I purchased it.

We bought a new Itasca Spirit 25B (same as Minnie Winnie 25B) last year. It's 26.5 ft. long. Drove it down from Alaska to Georgia in the fall and this winter toured Florida for 6 weeks in it. We have been very happy with it. Made a video tour of it while in Florida (pros, cons and mods) if you care to see it-

We just downsized from a 39' National DP to a 34' Gulfstream Supernova. We moved up from a 27' Tioga class c to the DP. The Supernova is the perfect combination of size, power, and features IMO!!

Almost 2 years since we did exactly what you are contemplating. 31' with a 4-runner in tow. Drove good, but thought it could be improved. Since it was older used had an alignment done at $190 and a good RV stabilizer and now drives great. Make sure you get a good braking system for the tow although the trans down shifting holds most grades even the long mountain 6 and 7%. As for the uphill the V10 does as well as the Pushers except at 7000 feet and above as the diesels hold the go with the turbo and we loose with the normally aspirated motor. Only things I do miss is a bedroom slide and a good inverter, but we have work around and do boondock a bit. The problem with a larger inverter is most Cs have 2 rather than 4 house batteries so lower amp hours although for Sun country the addition of 400-500 watts of solar might be good but then weight.

Look at the Chinook Summit. They are a high end Class C with the type of finish and equipment found on diesel pushers. The problem is that they quit building them in 2006.

We just got a 22B Four Winds with a bedroom pop out. E450 Chassis which pulls this small RV like a big van. I can use cruise control just about every where we go. It is a great little RV with plenty of room and storage with great power.
So fare so good with the unit.

We were thinking about a class C built on the Ford Transit. Which engine do you have ? I see Ford offers a I6 turbo diesel in the Transit chassis.
How do you like the Transit out on the highway ?
