There is an Outlaw 29H Class C (E450) owner here on iRV2 that tows a 7,000lb load and reported it is no problem.
http://www.irv2.com/forums/f121/outl...ml#post3401986

The catch is that the Class C selected must have the right "outfit."
That means a receiver hitch rated at over the towed loads weight (i.e. TMC Class C's -FourWinds/Chateau/Outlaw have a 8,000lb receiver).

Then you must load the RV so the combined loaded weight (loaded RV & Towed) does not put the combined vehicles weight over the E450's 22,000lb GCWR.

This should be totally NO PROBLEM since the E450's GVWR is 14,500lb - so technically there ALWAYS 7,500LB (22,000lb - 14,500lb = 7,500lb for towed load) towing capacity available - just check your weights loaded.
But - Warning going over GCWR can cause overheating, transmission damage, and a general unsafe on-road situation.

AND - For your Jeep...The Jeep must have a supplemental brake system. Please do not forego brakes on the Jeep.

Best luck

Nope.. because a diesel was way out of my price range. 2012 E450 for me and I had the frame reinforced and hitch upgraded to a Class IV. I use it primarily for towing. I pull 7-7.5k and it works just fine. Most hills I can still maintain 60mph, but the big steep ones I have slow up a bit. No different than when I towed that trailer with my 03 Expedition.. Actually I think the RV does it better.

I did my fair share of stabilization though. 6 degrees of caster, new shocks, roadmaster reflex upfront and Equalizer WD hitch.

I have a Ford Explorer AWD that weighs almost exactly 5000 lb. I did tow it with a front diesel. I now have a V10. The diesel was marginally better. The V10 does the job OEM. I plan on going to Alaska next year. When I trade cars, I will buy something a little lighter.

I have a 2015 Winnebago Aspect 30J. It's just over 30 feet long. I have weighed my Explorer and it with all my camping junk weighs almost exactly 5000 lbs. As I said above, when I buy a new car, it will be lighter (if I can find something suitable) but I love the Explorer.

I just wonder how much difference I will be able to notice if I go to 4000 lbs which is about what the Edge is?
