Cavie - sorry, the I'll get this lingo sometime. FW as fresh water makes total sense. We had trouble getting the cap off the Hot Water Tank so we could take the water out of the hot water tank.

It is behind a cover that looks like the attached picture. There should be a white plastic plug that needs to be removed to drain the tank.

Depending on what type hot water heater he has. some have a plug, some have the anode rod which is just a 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 plug with anode attached. Most water heaters today do not have the anode rod and do have just a plug.

Suburban has an anode rod. Atwood does not.

We store our RV in a inside unheated storage building in Columbus Ohio. Our first time owning an RV in Ohio. My question for the group is about possible temperatures in the storage building. During the winter months I will be cranking the MH and running the Generator and driving the coach around the parking lot to lube the drive train about every two weeks. Therefore I should not have to remove batteries or other things during storage right? I guess I should winterize too since it gets pretty cold sometimes, right?
Thanks for any experience in Columbus with winter storage issues.

Putting antifreeze in the fresh tank is the worst way to winterize. Most units have a way to suck antifreeze into the system via the water pump. That puts antifreeze in the pump and all the water lines without contaminating the fresh tank with antifreeze.

Don't forget to operate all the valves to get antifreeze in the valve cores.

The water heater just needs to be drained, ditto fresh tank. A little water will remain in the tanks but will not be a problem. Put the plug in loosely to prevent critters entering.

In the spring use a bleach solution to sanitize the system and it will clear out any residual antifreeze in the pump and pipes.

Don't forget to remove the rinse hose sprayer at the kitchen sink if it has one.

I leave all the faucets half open too

I would suggest driving it further and longer to get it up to temp.

I feel that random starting during winter only causes more problems. You never get it to the point of no condensation unless driven for long period of time. The Generator unless you can load with demand is not a good idea. I would suggest to keep battery's on tenders, and store tires on wood and let it be untill spring and you get ready to use it. Mine sets from Nov till late April and I've never started it or cycled the engine or gen for 10yrs. Just my opinion. Michigan weather.

Another way?

I saw at CW a pump you attach to the city water supply, and pump the anti-freeze into the system. wouldn't this work as well as any other? I would by-pass the (empty, drained) fresh water tank and just pump it up through the current plumbing system.

Why buy a high dollar put when you can do it for about $10.00 with a valve and a piece of hose???

Plastic plug on HW heater on Jayco/Entegra class Cs takes a 15/16 inch socket. Don’t forget the water filter under the sink (I did at first), there are tw shut offs to bypass.
