Mike,
We will probably see you next January F troop of Bounders United has been meeting there for several years and we have joined them at the sunset campground for the last 5 January's, and are planning to be there next year.

Death Valley Bounder gathering is a great place to go...Sacs and I went there in the early 90's with the Bounder "F-Troop"... Loved Scotty's Castle and every place else we went ... Enjoy....for those who will be going the first time.... to others... "Get out there & GO!!"

Well Wendy & I have been at Sunset CG for 3 weeks now & things are gooing good.
THe Death Valley 49er's are here & the main area of Sunset CG is full & the overflow lots are almost full. The layout of Sunset was changed to make the CG safer & that also made each camp site larger which reduced the total number of camp sites. So I think the CG will fill & we will be turning folks away soon. I wll post a pic of the place once it fills. Our first night here we were yhe only rig in the whole CG since it had not opened yet. I wish I had climbed up the hill then to get a pic of us in the empty CG,
Day time temps are in the upper 80s to low 90s.
Night time temps have been in the upper 50s to low 70s most are in the mid 60s.
This is a great time to visit Death Valley so if you are in the aera come on in & stop by.
By the way Gas & Diesel here are both above $4.00 a gallon.
Mike

Mike,

Where is the Sunset campground? I usually stay at the one just before you get to Scotty's Castle. (Entrance is just before the gaurd shack as you go north).

You can see where I am here>> http://map.datastormusers.com/user2.cfm?user=2276

I can't belive it our 90 days here is almost up. Our last day of work is Friday.
For our first time as Camp Host & also living in the Motorhome for 90 day it was great.
If we decide to come back next season we amy stay the complete season from Oct 15 to April 15 that is when Senset Campground is open.
We had several folks stop to say Hi from all the Groups we belong to & it was great to meet in person & put a real face to their screen names.
We have one more day off then 3 work days & we are done & will head towards Quartzsite.
Giong to spend 3 days at Terribles Lakeside Casino & RV park since I still have 11 days of free camping there from last years Gas Promo.
The only bad thing that happened while we were here is that Sam our Chocolate Lab got very sick & died just after Thankgiving. Wendy ended up looking all over the Net for another Lab to adopt & we ended up getting Gordon Yellow Lab at the Nevada ASPCA in Las Vegas.
The Day we brought Gordom Home

Christmas Morning

Happy Trails All

Mike

Mike, truly sorry to hear about your loving Pet. Precious, my loyal 12 year old German shorthaied is the center of my life also. Grey features are starting to accvelerate---therefore, luv and tend to her more each and every day.

Sounds like you have had a great experience at DV. Noticed that you are a retired NP Ranger and wonder if you can help me. Do you know of any telephone contacts---other than automated Menues--that I could use to get info to Volunteer with the NP service in Yellowstone this Sporing/Summer 2008? My wife appointment to work with Xantera in Yellowstone has been confirmed.

Our immediate goals are to work at Yellowstone and them DVNP. We are in our first year of starting Full time. My practical experience supports my interest in animal husbandry and fisheries

Many thanks in advance

Mike,
We really enjoyed meeting you and your lovely wife this January while we were in Sunset with the Bounder group. Your new yellow lab reminds me of our grandson's yellow lab that is now almost two years old and over 100 pounds A really smart and friendly dog though.
