Gas leak survey tech

Has anyone out there done this job? Seem to remember years ago there was a person who was doing this and posted frequently.

Yes, been there and done that as part of other power plant maintenance. Ours was a two man operation covering 20 miles of pipeline originating in Canada. The trek took a week with good weather. You need to be in shape and ready to deal with mad dogs, madder cows with calves, and the occasional farmer who has dug a garbage pit right next to the pipeline and lived to argue about it!
