Looking for a farm/ranch cultural exchange

My wife and I will be visiting the Gulf Coast for our first time after the first of the year. We plan on going from near New Orleans to Corpus Christi before heading over to Arizona. We would thoroughly enjoy being able to experience that part of the country by getting out on the land to see how things are.

What I'm proposing is a swap. I envision it with another farmer or rancher, but really anybody that could take us out in the bayou or show us around in general would work. In exchange you would come visit us for a couple days and we would include you in what we happen to be doing around the farm and ranch and show you the area.

We farm and ranch in north central Montana where it is predominately plains with a few island mountain ranges and the Missouri river breaks nearby. We raise cattle and small grains and have a nice place to camp next to an aspen grove.

Would love to hear from someone that would be interested in such a trade. Feel free to PM me as well. Thanks, Mark.

Outside of Richmond, TX (Southwest of Houston), there is the George Ranch. It is a historical working ranch which has tours.

Finding someone to do a specific exchange might be difficult but maybe you can. I think a bayou tour would be best and easier for you.

On another note.... we once volunteered on a 10,000 acre ranch in Oregon.... great experience & learned a lot. Our RV was parked at the gate area and our only 'duty' was letting the cowboys in and out of the gate. We had lots of free time to roam the ranch with our Jeep and talk to the cowboys learning what they were doing.

Cultural exchange, fantastic idea!

As a side note, when we were camped in Dubois Wyoming in 2020,. I was talking to ranch hand who told me about a ranch in the area that had put in a couple rv pads with hook-ups they rented out by the week. You could explore the ranch and see the operations and participate if you wanted. Unfortunately I lost the contact information.
