No RV yet, Older and Bolder Seasonal work..

..and could use some ideas where to look.

I'm 70, physically fit, and single, no pets. I looked through some of the "job openings" at National Parks that have housing available for employees, and of course take it out of the paycheck. I have my SS so I can do pretty well if I can find a position I am sure I can handle. I doubt I could handle a job like housekeeping, or heavy-duties. I'm thinking something like laundry-room, or even office work as I have good, clerical skills. I love being outdoors though so just hoping for something where I am working more independently.

Any suggestions are welcome. My hope is to save what I make, and eventually have an RV to travel, and camp in as long as I can stay "able bodied" I'd love to talk to folks that have worked different places, or maybe just one, favorite park, ranch etc.

Thank you much, Denise, Crescent City, California

PS I think Pacific Northwest is best to start out, but possibly a bit further if need be. Also, nothing in the high temperature areas/parks as I don't think I could acclimate to 100 degree weather, or higher

We are working in Yellowstone this summer. My wife will be data entry in the warehouse, and I will be driving the delivery truck for the stores/restaurants in the park.

The company is Delaware North. Even with a RV they are taking the cost for the campsite out of our checks.

That's wonderful, glad you two are all set.

I'll check it out and see if there are more openings, and, especially if they have housing for employees, as well as campsites. Thank you for your info

They have housing, and you can get a food program, if you want. Our campsite is $300/month, plus electric cost.

Hi Hamm,

I don't see any job-openings that I would be able to do I'm afraid. I do see there are at least 2 other places in California under Delaware North and looked at those as well. I think I will do a search on Data Entry, or some sort of clerical work. I was an administrative assistant for about 30 years but would never want that much responsibility again I just want to assist, not get in over my head.

I'm really good with computers, but don't want IT, or a work from home job. Mowing lawns and feeding animals would be something I could do on a smaller scale, and enjoy, especially feeding animals. I don't know, I have a lot of things I could do, but these jobs I'm seeing on Older and Bolder seem to be more for 50 year olds, whether I'm in good shape or not.

Call and talk to them. They may have something that fits what you want.

We sent resumes for certain jibs, but they said there was other jobs that would fit us better, and that are the jobs we will work this summer.

Ok Hamm, I can do that. I imagine someone is on duty on weekends so I'll give it a try today

Have worked in YNP for years. Try the link below. I know as of last week we were not fully staffed. Housing and meals are available for campground positions at all except one campground. I would be happy to answer any questions.

Thanks so much, I will go check your link. There's got to be something I can do out there I'll take you up on asking you questions if I find something I can apply for.

I will also try calling a Personal Manager/HR.
