Second volunteer position--Steamboat Lake Colorado

After finishing a month at Ft. Stanton NM, we slowly came north, stopped and saw the boys in Denver and are now at Steamboat Lake State Park for the summer. We have been here since the 19th. It is early in the season, although the park was packed for Memorial Day. The area is absolutely beautiful, and so far the work has been pleasant enough. We hung a hummmingbird feeder on one of the slides and that is how I got the picture. The other picture is what we see out our front door. I was standing in the door when I took the shot. Ain't life grand??

You are truly blessed, what an awesome view. That is probably the best humming bird pic I have ever seen.

Have fun.

The way I did it was watched the birds a while. They would drink, then back away to swallow and hover in the same spot for a couple of seconds. I focused on that spot and when the bird flew into it, took the picture. I am glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for all the replies to my post.

Are you lucky, YES. What a beautiful site. We love it each year when the Hummingbird's return, one by one. Last season we have 12+, they are so fast it's hard to count them. I was on the deck one day relaxing, had my Georgia Bulldog red cap on, and all of a sudden, a ruby red throat buzzed right in front of my head like a little Helicopter, what a wonderful site to see face to face. Enjoy your stay, good luck and travel safe.
