Island Acres Resort Motel in Gunnison, Colorado is seeking a couple or two individuals for the 2019 summer/fall season (May to the end of October.) We are seeking individuals who can assist with housekeeping, front desk, maintenance and yard work (experience with zero turn mower a plus) Employment would be 20 to 30 hours per week per individual.

Candidates must be able to: lift 25 pounds; maintain active physical activity for several hours; sometimes walk several miles within the workday; have a good eye for detail; clean to a high level of standards; follow directions; be pleasant with both staff and guests; maintain a professional and calm demeanor when confronted with conflict; communicate well with guest, staff and supervisors.

Island Acres is a small (17 units) retro lodging property with a loyal cliental. It is located on over three acres with easy access to downtown, fishing, jeep trails, hiking and mountain biking.

Wages based on experience, generally in the $10 to $12 range. RV Site or RV housing included. You can either bring your own RV or use one of our 5th wheels (a 35' Montana or a 32' Snowbird). While they are a nice size for a couple, they are not suitable for a family. Our RVs are both non-smoking and pet free. Utilities are also provided.

Island Acres is located in the middle of a lovely neighborhood. The location will be quiet, and the neighbors are very friendly. The property owners will generally be on site as well.

While our season is from May to end of October, we are willing to consider candidates who are available for our busiest times—from mid-June through Labor Day Weekend. This employment opportunity is a perfect job for someone who is looking for a way to spend time in Colorado and yet still have plenty of time to enjoy the area.

I spent a summer working with Pam at Island Acres staying in my Monaco Windsor. Great people to work with. Although my primary job was in the front office, I felt like part of the family and we were all in the same boat. Consequently I pitched in when a housekeeper didn’t show up or mowed when the groundskeeper got behind. Very relaxed and schedule was always flexible so everyone got to enjoy Gunnison and area. A great gig!

Oops, sorry, forget to talk about the front desk duties: the ability to operate our reservation system (ReservationKey); check in guests; operate as the assistant manager when the owner is off the property; assist with guest relations.

We believe in a team approach. We generally start the workday at 9 a.m. (8 if front desk) Housekeeping is generally done by noon. Lawn work and maintenance is scheduled as needed. The front desk is open until 8 pm.
