Absolutely beautiful park. Go there every other year. Cleaning restrooms is the big turn off to me and after retiring not interested in 40 hour work week. Those I’ve seen working there seem pretty happy. If you can do the work and are thinking about it for a summer I would highly recommend spending time in the area. Given the choice Madison is the better location to see the park from. Lots to see. Safe travels

Enjoy the journey

So I guess the big unanswered question is: how much does it pay? I'm not interested but that seems like a pretty important question to me.

Contact Human Resources with the provided link for the exact amount but I find the pay to be ok. Cleaning restrooms/comfort stations is not as unpleasant as it sounds. 40 hours is generally the max and the company really wants their workers to enjoy the park so they provide discounts on "stuff".

I checked out the site but found nothing pertaining to RVers site being provided. Only the sentence about "live the RV life". Am I not reading it right?
I think it could be a pretty neat opportunity.

RV sites, full hookups are provided, and they deduct about $10.00 a day from your pay. I can only speak about my campground and realize I am biased, but our sites are really nice.

A little FYI:

After applying for numerous positions I was offered 2 different jobs in Yellowstone NP this summer....

Turns out neither was as was advertised!!!!

One was working in one of the CG’s BUT they couldn’t guarantee me a campsite (said they were only given a limited number and they went quickly)

Would have to possibly find a site elsewhere and drive into park!!!

No thank you....

Other job seemed like the dream job of a lifetime - fishing guide on Yellowstone Lake!!!!

As a former 30 yr fishing guide in Texas this seemed perfect!!!!

Then things begin to reveal themselves ....

- I’d have to pay for my campsite - $300/mo...

- since I’d be in a MH, no meals would be provided as they would if we were in a dorm...

- I’d have to furnish all fishing related supplies (rod, reels, lures, etc) enough for 6 people....

- most concerning of all - no liability protection provided by them....

Dream job turned out to be not so dreamy after all....

Was extremely disappointed because we love Yellowstone (been there 10 times)

Xanterra is the concessioner for much of the hospitality in Yellowstone. Their positions are typically posted in mid/late Nov. I am surprised to see that there are still open positions being advertised. The pay might be OK for a college student summer job. For my wife and I, its not about the pay, its about living in Yellowstone for 3+ months - something I could not afford to do as a tourist (if I could get and keep a campsite in the park for 3+ months)

Tridot: I sounds like you have done this gig before. What are the employee campgrounds like (especially interested in knowing about Grant).

Sorry about your experience ernest 917. While I have never applied as a fishing guide I have had only positive experiences in my employment.

aribert, I have driven through Grant Village campground but never stayed there. The employee sites in my campground are very good and I have no reason to believe that the other campgrounds are not similar. I share your feelings about the compensation. As strange as it would appear Xanterra is always looking for workers. I am headed that way now and I was informed as of Wednesday we were short a couple. We open on May 14.

Hey there Tridot,

I followed the link, but it gave me an error

Is the Grant Village opportunity still available?

Thanks!
