I've been to many real good threads in the past and wanted to comment or ask a question only to get a "whoops, this thread is XYZ days old and commenting is closed".

This thread on stamp pricing is 11 yrs old and you still can comment on it. What's up with that.?

Just keep this thread going for a short while and it'll be true. The price of stamps will be going up. LOL
Then it can start all over again.

No, it doesn't! Oregon courts have decided that it's 7 years.

I didn't look at the OP date so when I saw 42 cents, wondered if I had wandered into a time warp since they are now 55 cents (I think - but haven't bought any for a long time)

It's funny this subject has come up. I was in the Post Office a few weeks ago and while waiting in line I was reading the costs of postage on the wall. I know I'm showing my age but I remember when a postcard cost a penney. In fact it was know as a "Penny Post Card". Today's price is 35 cents. I remember when the price of a post card rose to 2 cents. People had a fit when the price was doubled. Duh! I'm not sure how else they could have increased the price unless you bought several cards for a set price. Maybe 3 cards for 5 cents?
Back then when Postcards were a penny you could send a letter for 2 cents if the envelope wasn't sealed. If the envelope was sealed the postage was 3 cents. That never made any sense to me.
When I first started working on a farm the minimum wage for farm work was 35 cents per hour. Today I could buy 1 post card for each hour I worked.
