Thumbs up Campvention 2009, Sedalia Missouri

We are looking forward to attending our 14 International Campvention in Sedalia Missouri from July 3-10. We hope to see many of our FCRV camping family there. We will all be in ful hook up sites and all of the buildings are air conditioned so the heat should not be a problem.
I should also mention this year is the 60th anniversary of the founding of our group.
Take care and see you in Missouri.

Just an update, as a group of us will actually travel to Branson for 3 days before we arrive in Sedalia. We expect to have a good time there as well.

FC - we just returned from the Escapees RV Club rally last week at the Mo Fairgrounds. The fair grounds are fine and most of us were in the west campground (about 850 RVs). Keep a few things in mind. I had to add a 20ft extension to my 15 foot sewer hose to reach the connection, It took 75 ft of water hose to get to the water spigot. Many required an extension to their power cord as well. The campground layout was best escribed as being very "Unique".

The campground is grass with dirt/gravel roads. The grass was really nice - until we had 4+ inches of rain. Between 25 and 33% of the rigs (trailers, 5ers, and motorhomes) had to be towed out of the fields to the somewhat narrow gravel roads. The dirt under the nice green grass tuned into very deep mud . Don's towing with their farm tractor was the least expensive at $50 bucks a pop. Others paid $150 or more and at one point there were approximately 10 large HD tow trucks (and the farm tractor) there. Many of the 5er owners used multiple chained tow rigs to help pull each other out instead of paying the tow truck drivers.

We still had a great time and you will also - just think ahead a bit if rain is in your forecast.

BTW - if you are a geocacher, there are several caches in the fairgrounds

I thank you for your information. We have friends from the irv2 chat who were at the Escapees Rally in Sedalia as well and they filled me in on the rain problems. We are hoping for fine weather. We spent one night there back in 03 so are quite familiar with the grounds. We expect to have approximately 600 familes there. My wife and I are in charge of the Teen Activities so we know we will have a great time in Sedalia.
Thanks again.

We also returned from Sedalia . We had a Great Time !!!! Met some of the Legions of the Esscapes Board. Alot of great People .

Yes the rain was bad my truck pulled out a couple Trucks with their 5th Wheel trailers. ( I didn't Charge ) The Black Pig was Smilling tugging those combo's out of the Mug. I guess the 4 wd option paid off again as We got out OK.

Looking forward to Ohio and Goshen .

Happy Camping

Wayne, Thank you for helping pull folks out of the mud. I saw a lot of that going on with the towable crowd and it really impressed me how much everyone was willing to help each other out. It reminded me of the Texas Boomers we camp with down here.

FC, you are quite welcome and should have a great time when you are there. The locals told me that things dry up that time of year. Despite the rain, we had a great time and the people if Sedalia were very nice to everyone in our group. I am sure they will be the same with you folks, it seems to be their nature

Safe Travels!

we are about 16 hours away from departure an I am really ready to go. We hope to have a great drive down to Branson for a mini vacation and then pull into Sedalia on July 1, Canada Day. We should be travelling with a group of at least 14 families.
Any other Campvention attendees, look us up.
We will be in the Trustee section of the campground.

WE have just returned from Campvention 2009 in Sedali Missouri and we all had a great time. We did get some heavy rains on pull out day, but the ground seemed to be OK when we left.
WE had over 500 units on site and had a great week of fun and fellowship, seminars, entertainment and hospitalities and meeting old friends.
And remember we only charged $200 a unit for 7 days of full hook up parking, and the power was great as our AC ran the whole week.
Next July we will be in Berrien Springs.
Hope to see more of you folks there.
