2020 census Will you be counted?

I was curious about how we fulltimers are counted by the census bureau. It seems that in 2010 many were not.

I'm going to contact my mail forwarding company about this right after Christmas, if not sooner. I want to be counted!

For us it won't be a problem. Though I would be happy to be missed my mail will get forwarded to me and I'll fill it out. Can't see how I would get missed. If you do get missed call and I am sure they will get it to you. You'r situation could be different though.

If you'll read the link I posted you'll see that fulltimers were NOT sent census forms in 2010. Nothing to forward.

Some areas make a big push to get everyone counted, including Polk County, so when Escapees couldn't get the forms to forward on to us, they let everyone know how to get the location of blank forms so we could send them in - - which is what we did. Assume it will be the same next year. Difference for us will be that our Park Model address will get a form and since we will be there at the time, not just passing through, we will probably given Arizona our head count.

I suppose some politicians are concerned about all the extra people who use mail forwarding in SD. The census is used to establish voting districts and get money from the federal government.

I have no idea how many people use My Home Address in the tiny town of Emery, SD but I bet it's enough to skew the numbers in that town. Google says there where 455 residents in 2017. Hmm, I "moved there” in 2011. I wonder if I got counted. I’ll make sure I do get counted next year.

Interesting. We don't use a forwarding service, just a goof friend so we will still get it but many others may not.

Goof friend? Typo or Freudian slip?

I have a friend who keeps a lust of the things she wants to get done that day.

Another benefit of belonging to Escapees, I'm sure they will keep us informed, like Barbaraok said.

Full timing without any a permanent physical residence in a particular location, even if you are otherwise not present while in your coach (mail service don't count) defeats many of the purposes of the Census and so you shouldn't count

The Census can't handle freedom

I guess I see fulltiming differently. I DO have a permanent residence. It just happens to have a motor and wheels so it moves to a different place every so often.

There's something very unAmerican about being told you don’t count. I'll make sure I complete and mail a 2020 census form as soon as I can get my hands on one.

Everyone, including full timers, have a domicile (a state they call home such as on your driver's license) and even though it defeats the purpose of the Census if you are not there much, you can still fill one out.

As for the theory that every American counts...take a look around

Her's not mine. She is well known for what she calls "finger slides" or hitting an adjacent key, but many of her slides are hysterical.

"2020 census Will you be counted?"

Why should I care if I'm counted or not? I'm serious, what difference does it make for me personally? Especially, since I really don't have a permanent "real" address anymore.
The only thing filling out the form does is provide one more "citizen" for an obscure county in Florida or Texas, or South Dakota.
If they really want accurate data, there should be a "mailing address only", "no permanent domicile", or "continuous traveler" category.
I'll bet those numbers would wrinkle some local government feathers!
