Wondering if anyone has a lot that they use? Maybe set up with a shed or small building? Might have a bath and toilet too? Many areas seem to frown on letting someone put an rv on a lot.

Any of you own such a set up? If so, where?

Great topic. I wouldn't mind doing it, but for now we still have the house. We only stay in it maybe 30 nights a year, but we both agree that we'd happily sell it, get a moderate plot of land and only have a RV garage on the property.

We have tried unsuccessfully to do just that in three different states (FL, IN, TN) in order to have a permanent place when we visit grandkids. Zoning restrictions prevent us from doing so in any area we wish to be at. TN had fewer restrictions, generally but getting utilities was going to be difficult. Fl was impossible, and the areas of IN we looked at were not any easier.

Steve, dont own one but I live on the Gulf coast,se Tx, There is a lot of what you describe on the Bolivar Penninsula south of Galveston. Mostly I guess because Hurricanes tend to carry the beach houses away. Ask me how I know. Some of the lots get pretty elaborate. Always said it was the way to go for the beach.

we live in a community that lets us do a mobile home or build a spot for your rv

we added, a toilet, place for changing clothes from winter to summer
deep freeze, two bedrooms, etc
has to be at least 750sq ft and then its a HOUSE for tax purposes and insurance...and we call it a RV port and the BIG house , its two story inside pad is 25.5 x 65, rv takes up 40 x 25.5
we are in texas...north east to be exact

funny thing is we purchase done lot......now we have 6, i put my folks one tow next to us for htier rv and little house

weird thing is if you just want to put a pad for your rv and then maybe a small shed......
the shed can only be 8x10.....but if you build a garage (roll up door), then it can be bigger.

We are presently considering buying a very nice lot in an RV Resort in Boulder City, NV. Our stick house is in Utah and our two sons live in Las Vegas. Our thought is to get closer to the kids in the winter and live in Utah in the summer. I have a problem with HOA's (doesn't everyone?) but I guess they do serve a purpose. I would also plan on leaving the motor home on our lot in NV during the summer instead of storing it in Utah. We don't travel much in the summer since we live on a golf course and I play around four times per week (wife loves it because I give her some time to do things by herself). Any ideas, comments, or suggestions about owning lots in a resort will be appreciated.

2X on that. I'm trying to downsize and what I have found is you need a livable structure on the lot to get utilities. I'm now trying to find a real old MH. on a small lot so I can replace it with a small park model and build a rv garage attached to the MH. Fl. is tough on building.

Now you're talking my goal. I currently live and work in NC and own property in SC. I would love to sell our house and purchase a fair size travel trailer for my wife and myself, set it up in an RV park which is a lot closer to my shop than I live now, and develop my SC acreage which is fairly remote with power, water, and dump hookups, fenced in with a utility building. Then flout between then whenever the mood hits. Just having a problem getting mama to see.

I see alot of them for sale in the back of the FMCA mag, but most seem to be in Class A developments. We've been tossing it back and forth. Anyone lived in one like Deer Creek in FL.?

I have a few lots in 2 different states, aside from my SB home. The lots are in Lake Chaparral, Kansas and Lakemont Shores, near Disney, OK. I purchased the lots, literally, via Ebay. Each has its own meter loop and connections. Each has lake access, and multiple facilities available for members' use. The one in Kansas has boatramps, a covered fishing dock, shower facilities, pavilions and group camp areas, and one of the 3 lakes is reserved for swimmers only, so kids can swim without danger.
Many of these kind of lots get bought and the owners fail to pay their maintenance fees, resulting in the resorts auctioning them off. I have less than 4k in all four sites, and only the one in OK has limits on stays- 60 days or 6 months during construction, but I could literally move from one to the other and never be in violation.
Downside? Here, we have genuine Winter weather, and so I keep the SB. It's on 5 acres in MO, surrounded by hundreds of acres of farmland, so it's kinda quiet

We have a lot with RV garage and full hookup in Arizona.

We have 10 acres in west Texas about 50 miles east of El Paso. It's near the Guadalupe Mountains. Land is very cheap there for a good reason. Water is hard to get. There is a massive aquifer there if you can reach it. 750 foot wells are common and the hardpan make drilling difficult. We do have a well and electric if we want it but the water has salt so you can't drink it. Most folks out there have water trucked in.

We are going to use it for dirt bike riding. Tons of wide open space but I doubt we would ever end up living there long term. We will put a small cinderblock building up for the MH and spend some time out there riding.

Texas is one of my favorite states.
