Again, I have never been robbed or had a fire in 60 years. I must have a boring life, but I am prepared.

Before we started full timing we were with a nation wide chain bank so going to our bank's ATM hasn't been a problem. We use very little cash however. But when we do need some cash we usually get cash back when paying for our groceries using a debit card.

I'm prepared too where the law allows it and fully support the notion. But the point of my post is that for the "preparedness" to do any good you have to be there. I've never had a fire, but I have been robbed. It's not something you forget easily. Maybe that's why I'm a bit leery of keeping a lot of cash around.

I’m also a big fan of Apple Pay and I have several cards on it, including my debit card. When I lost my wallet last year I called Amazon to replace their card and watched the card update on my phone while I was on the call! I got a replacement in the mail a few days later but I was able to use the new account on Apple Pay right away.

That is an option on many credit cards. We have set our that way for at least a year.
