Best Florida Snowbird Parks?
I will be fulltiming starting July, and will be in search of a great park in Florida to spend January through April. Would love to hear from others who have had great experiences in parks they have stayed for one season, or return to year after year.
Important to us; should be between central FL and Fort Meyers. Clean and up to date park, wifi, great surroundings, good security, and of reasonable price. Most of all I think atmosphere is important. Some place you can enjoy your morning coffee under your awning or dream the day away with a glass of red.
We are new to FTing, but not RVing. All of your comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Travelers Rest Resort!!! Just outside of Dade City off I-75. We found it by accident 3 years ago and haven't left. Has all the amenities you could think of including an executive golf course, its own post office and fire department. A very friendly group of people. If you come for a visit I guarntee that you will stay. Considering what is available to residents the fees are very reasonable. Has a great web site...check it out. www.travellersrestresort.com

Thanks fillbert, it looks like a great Resort. Perusing through website answers many of my questions. By chance do you know the driving time to Disney? My daughter works for the Mouse, and I am sure we will be making frequent trips to the happiest place on Earth!

Disney is a little more than an hour away (70miles+/-). Whatever mapping program you have ...Google Maps... will show you where TR is in relation to Disney.

If I may offer a suggestion take a look at emeraldpointervresort.com. It's located in Zephyrhills, FL and to is about an hour from Disney. We stayed this past winter and it is a great place and we will be returning next season as well. It's an owner owned park and you have to contact an owner to rent a lot if available. Take a look it can't hurt.

We stayed at Wekiva Falls Resort this winter for the first time and we are going back without question.
What we like about it is the location. 5 miles from I-4 and 30-40 mins from Disney. It sets 1.5 miles off SR46 and is super quiet. Also only 5 miles from any shopping you meed to do.
1/2 of the lots are 40x100. I suppose we lucked out by being between two lots with too many trees and had 3 lots to ourselves.
Our RVing has primarily been boondocking, so our CG experience has been limited. However, we think this is worth a look.

Great input, there looks like there are a few good ones to chose from. I have entertained Tropical Palms, but the area can be a bit busy.

Take a look at Sunshine RV Resort just south of Lake Placid located just east of hwy 27 on SR 70, we have been staying there for the last 5 years we like the large sites friendly neighbors and all the activities they have going on that you can join in on or just relax with a cool one, we prefer this location because of the warmer temps (10 degrees warmer than Tampa area on the average) it is 1 hour to Ft Myers and 1 hour to the Atlantic Ft. Pierce

Looks like a nice place. Must be a LOT of smart people there. There is a rule in their guidelines as follows:
"[no] draining of gray matter on the ground"

If you are looking for a park that is close to the city but still quiet and has a good number of amenities including a pool, horseshoe pits, a nice dance hall, but has been in existence for a good number of years, check out RICE CREEK RV PARK in Riverview, Florida. We has stayed there and really enjoyed the people and facilities. It is not expensive in comparison to some of the other Florida parks. Very convenient to Tampa, Sarasota, Orlando, and Central Florida.
Regards,
JB

Check out Clerbrook Golf and RV Resort in Clermont, FL. West of Orlando about 30 miles and has a lot of sites. WIFI is not so good because you must be real close to one of the three clubhouses to get good reception. Has an 18 hole golf course and lots of activities. It has three areas but is much quieter in the CrossRoads area.
