Not sure where to ask this.

A very important ritual for me every morning is to make a pot of coffee. Sometimes we are stopped at a HH location or somewhere I would rather not fire up the generator to make coffee. What type of non-electric coffee makers do you use?

I'm looking at the Melitta 10 cup pour over coffee brewer.

BTW, an automatic no to a percolator.

We used a pour over drip coffee cone (or whatever you call it) when we tent camped. You put it on your cup, put coffee grounds in it an pour water over it. The Dr says less then three cups a day so I don't perk a pot any more.

Boil water in a kettle on the stove (or in an electric water kettle when plugged in) then pour boiling water into a French press with your favorite ground coffee (add to your desired coffee strength).

Sometimes we use the pour over cone as mentioned but can also brew a pot using our inverter rather than the generation.

I use an AeroPress - just need hot water, coffee and a minute or so waiting for it to steep. Boil water on the stove, pour into AeroPress, wait about a minute, press the plunger and done. Similar process to a French Press, easier to clean, more compact for storage.

Why no perculator? We found it to make the very best coffee ever.

We used a Coleman camping drip coffee maker on the stovetop for years. Now we use the inverter with a Black and Decker drip coffee maker that has a stainless steel thermos-style carafe. It shuts off when there's no more water to boil, and the coffee stays hot for hours. We stopped picking grounds out of our teeth from aluminum percolators decades ago...

We used a filter that 'wraps' the coffee grounds. None gets in the coffee and it's a clean way to dispose of the grounds.

I’ve had one of these for many years. I cannot use automatic coffeemakers at home because of the minerals in my well water. This is a drip type pot. You pour hot water into the top. In the center is a filter basket. You can use a standard coffee filter or go without. The coffee ends up in the bottom pot. I bought mine at Lehman’s, but it is also available on Amazon.

Have a $7 melitta pourover brewing cone. Added a permanant mesh filter. Line the mesh filter with a readily available paper towel. Use auto drip grind coffee. Place cone over cup of choice. Heat water on the cooktop. Pour into cone. Drink. Toss paper towel with spent grounds in trash. Rinse mesh filter out with hot water (so it dries fast... usually have excess water in tea kettle). Replace in storage spot. Not as expensive as some methods but does make a decent cup of coffee. And it also makes a second cup of coffee pretty fast.

For me it would be a French Press or an old fashioned perculator.

French press. RO water. Tea kettle on the propane cooktop. Inverter makes an electric hot pot an option as well when not plugged in.

We tried a French Press and it's too messy to deal with the grounds. We don't put any down the drain - ever.
