Epiphany yesterday about you full timers...

As I was mowing the grass and contemplating blowing off the weed whacking... I had the realization that you full timers don't own a lawn mower... or a weed whacker for that matter, or hedge trimmers, or chainsaws, or pruning shears.. etc.

I will be there someday!

Not a full timer but I DO keep a rechargeable leaf blower handy for blowing out leaves, dust and dog feathers after a long trip....

I am not a full timer either, but I moved to a place where lawns are frowned upon along with all that other green stuff. No lawn mower, leaf blower, chainsaw, hedge trimmer, only a shovel, pick, and rake to "comb" the rocks.

We are full timers but spend some time parked on our own camping land every so often. We have a shed there with all of the above in it, and they do get used. Of course, we do not travel around with them, which I admit is liberating. ~Lori

Thanks!
Dropping just that one thing pays for a whole lotta stuff out here.
Taxes, utilities, upkeep, mower fuel ;-) yadda-yadda, is paying for all we do F/T and then some. Moving, just to change our outdoor wallpaper is pretty cool too!

Quick, start listing all of the things that make this such a bad lifestyle so they will stay rooted in that S&B.

When I owned a stick&brick that was my situation too. For years I vowed that the only yard work tool I was prepared to use was a Visa card. I have to add that we are in a state park campground for the summer as volunteers and I have to trim the grass around my site. But at least they supply the tools.

I was planning to continue mowing for 5 - 10 more years, but #4 has literally doubled since 2007, and may push me out sooner than planned. I could do a lot of things with that money, like make payments on a new rig. The thought of not sitting on a mower for 8 hours, every couple weeks, seems appealing at times. Other times, it seems like it may be worth it.

My little spreadsheet comparing fixed location costs vs full-timing costs ... shows full-timing (with no house) to be a clear winner. Cost alone justifies it, then to sweeten the experience will be things like freedom, relaxation, enjoyment, etc,

I can broaden the spreadsheet to factor in the value of investing the house and land sale money, and the excitement is almost too much for the old heart !!
