I sympathize with your situation, It is horrible. I however; am on my third V10, my second had over 100,000 miles and my current 2017 is running like a champ. Boxing all Fords into one lump sum, well...I am a former Ford mechanic turned military (now retired). Having worked in a “few” shops I can say not all wrench turners are quite what they should be and let’s face it, with what is building the current “market ready” crated engines and transmissions, well you have to look at a bigger picture, if you will. Your situation is horrible, unacceptable in fact, but it doesn’t always mean the actual manufacture is the faultier.
I wish you the best cause no one deserves a headache, but we in fact due get them.

I really don't hear him bashing the V10, but being unhappy with (bashing) Ford's response.

The title of the thread may have something to do with it....

Well, this certainly isn't the first thread I've read on this forum that started....

'I didn't want a diesel coach because they break down and cost lots of money!'

Ford 6.8L V-10's are generally pretty reliable engine. Sorry to hear you got a bad one !

Curious what you would have titled it?
I’m now close to $25,000 and no end or relief in site.

Ford

We purchased a 2021 Adventurer new Eight (8) months ago. F53 chassis with V8. On the way home from the dealership the ABS and Trax light came on and we later lost cruise control. NO Ford repair center in Houston, so took it to a dealer 80 miles away. They kept the MH 6 weeks to tell me they ordered a wheel hub with sensor and the hub is on national back order. Past couple of months dealing with Ford's Customer Experience Specialist, Ford CX Team and have accomplished NOTHING. The other day I am told they will place the hub on emergency order. Can not believe something as simple as a hub is not available as warranty when they are building these chassis everyday.
For us the 27N floor plan is perfect. Hopefully we will not have Winnie problems since we have only used the MH once.
The real purpose of this post is first I would have never bought this MH knowing what I know today. Second there is NO Ford Houston dealer that services Class A MH even though some list they do. I called them all. The Wednesday email tells me Ford really does not care.

Guess I am lucky.

I called my RV dealership about a ford warranty problem last fall and they said all their Ford warranty work went to Palm Bay Ford in Palm Bay, Fl (about 40 miles north of me).

I have called them 4 times for service in the last 8 months and every time they have had me in the next day if I wanted it that soon and had it back to me in less than 10 days. The very first issue was a misfiring V10 and they narrowed it to some emissions control valve, free under warranty.

It was sort of emergency to me as the RV was scheduled to go into a Camping World collision repair shop (all Ford parts) within a week. The collision shop told me the backlog of parts was 6-8 weeks out and it turned out to be more like 10.

Every time I called either place, I got satisfactory answers, enough to plan around the finish time. After all was done, several people said next time, despite the insurance companies "lifetime repair" if you went with one of their servicing collisions centers, a quality local collision repair may have gotten the parts faster and had even a better handle on delivery times.

You purchased this new from a motorhome dealership, and on the way home you had the problem? Why didn't you just drive it back to that dealership and tell them to fix it, or get you a different motorhome? All manufacturers are having supply chain issues, it's not just Ford.

I agree, $200/day is a ripoff. I'm currently staying at an extended stay hotel for about $50 something/day, which includes full kitchen conveniences.

The Ford V10 has been considered – in general – a decent engine. Yes there have been issues just like most engines. The OP’s example I believe is exceptional, and I agree the focus is lack of customer service and satisfaction. I can’t compare it with other manufacturers as only Ford seems to be left in this part of the market for Class A gassers; I could be wrong.

In the late 90’s, Ford replaced the venerable 460 V-8 with the Triton V10. The biggest reason I have understood is it revved higher and had more power. On the down side it has more pistons, spark plugs and valve train. Having said that, the 460 has been modified outside Ford to reliably deliver double the pathetic 235HP of the original. Now we have 4 cylinder trucks with an engine half the size, making more HP. Even a simple exhaust change to headers and proper tuned exhaust system can add a significant amount of HP to the 460.

If you are a Ford fanatic, I can understand your dogmatic approach to supporting the brand, even in the face of engineering that sometimes that beggar’s belief. Look into the 400 V6 with 3 timing chains, with one at the back requiring engine removal to replace, or the 4.6L V-8 paired with an automatic transmission that has no transmission dipstick, and more. These are just ones I have experienced personally. Now I have a Class A with the 460 but a transmission with an unnatural 2nd gear. The V10 with the 6 speed did cure that issue I understand but created others.

In conclusion, based on personal experience and the OP’s challenging experience with even reasonable customer service, which may or may not be typical, but in the end, in future, I will lean away from Ford Products. I presently have 2, and will do my best to correct this over time. I agree not all Ford products are awful or poor, the most recent F350 Diesel is a good example but the competition out there is just a good.

I wish you luck in getting things sorted.

Call me paranoid but since being full time I have maintained extended warranty on either my RV (if a class A) or on my tow vehicle (if a 5th wheel). I figure the $800 or so a year it costs for these warranties is cheap insurance against total engine failure of some other major repair.
You can purchase an extended warranty on either a Class A or tow vehicle for $800 a year??? I was under the impression this could run several thousand annually for a solid plan. Would you mind filling us in on the details from your experience?

Ford doesn’t stand behind there vehicles, I purchased a 2016 F150 with the ecoboost 2.7L. 1200 KM the engine started idling rough. 16 weeks my truck sat at the dealership as they tried to fix it. They promised me they would buy it back from me & compensate me for missing a summer towing our trailer. In the end they replace the whole motor and then told me to go fly a kite basically. A few days after I got the truck back it was very cold outside and none of the doors would lock or unlock. My son almost fell out the door. We had a bungee cord it shut. Sold it and will never purchase another Ford product as long as I live.

And for your story there are plenty of very satisfied Ford customers.

Posting brand bashing on one experience is like raindrops in a storm..... plenty to go around to all manufacturers.

Professional rating services point out every year it is more a model and yearly thing than a particular manufacturer.
