Full time anxiety

We have 2 weeks before we leave home for good. Was the anxiety bad for you prior to letting go of the sticks and bricks?

NO!

We had an Estate Sale .......sold everything one Saturday so S& B was Empty
We started 'living' in our new 5th wheel that night parked next to house

Person at auction made us an offer on house...coupe back & forth we had a deal with a 45 day escrow

44 days later we pulled out READY for a new adventure/life style

No anxiety!! Relief and excitement!!! We made our full-timing decision in May and we had everything gone by August. The 16 years of full-timing was the best time of our lives. No regrets.

Take it slow and expect that things will happen along the way. Every issue has a solution.

Thanks! We are retiring early and we're ready to it the road! The anxiety comes and goes...

I'm sure this is why most people don't take the plunge. We're diving in.

Anxiety? Then mayby you should not go. Full timing is not for everyone. It is a lifestyle and a major change. Some people can embrace it, while others cannot let go of stuff. If you do go full time do not make the mistake some do, storage space is expensive, so plan to sell or give everything away. Maybe store some of the most important stuff at your kids house. What might be important to you is likely worthless junk for everyone else.

We're anxious for our S&B to sell. Once sold, hitting the road as well. Dropped the price significantly in order to better entice those potential buyers. Been hard to remain calm while the selling process has been ongoing.

Chris, I think it’s different for everyone and no easy answer. What I would tell you is do what is right for your family. If it calms nerves go ahead and get storage. If it makes it easier to adjust, start out close to home. The main point is that this is a life change and everyone does it differently.

My wife and I have secured a full time site about 1 hour from the kids and grand kids. We call it our home base and travel about every three weeks for a long weekend or ten days. It is helping us with the adjustment. We have a 10 x 15 storage right now and after 6 months the wife suggests we need to get rid of it.

Good luck with your journey. Just remember, it’s your journey

At this point, you just need to deal with the anxiety part. It will probably be really strong when you make the final drive down the driveway and until you get a couple of days/nights under your belt. Just keep in mind that you can always get another house when the time is right and you will know when. In our case, we had a road map to keep us going when we otherwise might have given up. Just follow your plan.

I have the opposite problem. Anxiety because we CAN'T dump everything and leave. Family (our kids) issues, is forcing us to stay here. Our two year old coach only has 5000 miles on it. We got to go for 3 months the first year, but now are stuck at the S&B until the last one can get out on her own.

Well, I appreciate the reply's. I'm feeling better every day since we made the ultimate decision. Now I'm feeling excited and I can tell you that feels good.

Still have doubts, but I am a worrier.... I hope that goes away some with retirement!

Think of it as excitement rather than anxiety. Things will happen, go with the flow, learn from the adventure. Enjoy the places you see and the people you meet. Do what you want when you want. Enjoy, have fun!

As someone who has to work on while on the road and having everything in our rig. I totally understand the stress before going fulltime.

After the first couple of weeks it will get less and less stressful.
