Are there any places for me to park my RV and live in it for a few months while I relocate and start a new job on the San Diego bay? I would like to be able to get around without a car to do shopping and go to work at Hornblower cruises.

Thanks for any info & advise!

There are a few RV parks on Mission Bay that offer extended stay rates, however as for "free" or inexpensive, probably none available. The parks on Mission Bay are on the bus route to the downtown area and are close to shopping. If you go further out, there is the trolley that will take you close to downtown.
Recommend doing a web search of RV parks in the San Diego area, which should give you a clearer picture of what is available, prices, etc.

Cross Country,

We just spent 2 months at the beautiful Santee Lakes Recreational Preserve in Santee, CA just northeast of San Diego (about 20 minutes to downtown). I'm convinced this place is the best value and the most convenient place to stay in the San Diego area. Santee has all the necessary stores and more. If you need La Jolla shopping, you're only 15 miles away. The preserve in on a chain of 7 lakes and is big rig friendly.

Here's the info:

Santee Lakes Recreational Preserve
9310 Fanita Parkway
Santee, CA 92071
619-596-3141
santeelakes.com

I would suggest calling for reservations as opposed to trying to do it on-line.

Hope this helps.
John

Cross Country,

I jumped the gun. I re-read your letter and saw the part where you didn't want to use a car.

Here's a thought. There is the Trolley that goes from Santee to downtown S.D. (not sure how close to your work). You can pick up the Trolley in downtown Santee and take it to downtown San Diego. The trolley pick-up point in Santee is about 4 miles from Santee Lakes campground. So..... you could conceivably ride your bicycle to the Trolley pick-up point, lock the bike close by and take the Trolley to S.D.

Having a car would be a lot more convenient, however, a bicycle and the Trolley could work.
