Our natural cycles are quite different. I’m awake with the sun, and ready for bed as soon as it starts getting dark. She would be up until the wee hours and sleep until noon.

Our different cycles seem to work for us (for the most part). I'm the night owl and she's the day person. We each get a couple of quiet hours to ourselves most days when we're not traveling to read or watch tv that the other wouldn't be interested in. It helps that the sliding wood door between the bedroom and living area really cuts the noise from the tv.
We're 2+ yrs full time and our schedule difference works for us.

I think you bring up a good point. My wife and I are on a slightly different schedule as well since she stopped working. Get up before her and the dogs and enjoy some quiet time with coffee and the peacefulness of the morning. She tends to stay up a bit later than me and I'm sure she enjoys her quiet time as well. I think we all need a bit of alone, maybe not alone, but quiet time, time to do you.

The problem is that the alone time I want is for playing my banjo. Can’t really do that when someone else is trying to sleep!

You mount a bird feeder on the windshield.
