How long at a location

We have just begun our full-time journey and are planning things out now, which made me wonder, how long do you stay at each location before moving somewhere else? TIA

The answer of course is 'it depends'. For the summer we typically stay 4 to 6 weeks at a park in the NE near our adult kids. While there we visit, get our annual medical checkups and just chill. Next summer were going to tour Mass, Maine, VT, etc. During that time we'll stay anywhere between 3 to 7 days depending on location, what to do in the area etc.

When traveling long distances we may stay only 1 or 2 nights, sometimes in a Cabela's or Cracker Barrel (call ahead to see if they allow it).

We typically winter for Dec., Jan. & Feb. In one place in FL. or AZ. but we're relatively new at full timing (2 yrs) and not sure yet how easy / hard it is to find multiple wintering grounds that we would like and stay in budget so the monthly Escapes club rates appeal to us for the winter.

Oh, we really like federal (especially COE) and state parks. But most of them don't have water and dump station at each campsite. So at those locations we typically 3 to 7 days as we can make our gray tank last 3 to 4 days. So it's one trip to the dump station while we're there and one on our way out - ymmv.

We travel secondary roads in order to really see the country. We also use public parks or boondock on public lands. We don't make reservations so we're free to leave when the mood strikes us to move on.

We've been know to move 25 miles or up to 150-200 mi/day. We had a Jeep so we'd explore the backcountry and anything else of interest in the immediate area.

There are no set rules. It's up to up! Enjoy!!

Almost 9 years on the road, and we’ve evolved to a mode where we do a couple of volunteer gigs per year that last 3-5 months each, with some 2-3 day stop wandering that lasts a month or more while going from one to another. While “wandering” we stay at a mix of CG, Wally docking, and Cracker Barrel (if we need to gain some weight!). Often a seasonal work gig that lasts a month or two (like the sugar beet harvest or Amazon) gets tucked in there.
The first couple of years we were in too much of a hurry, seems like we were always rushing to get some place. Now it’s a rare day we travel over 200 miles. Get up when we’re done sleeping, breakfast, another coffee, and leave about 11 or so. Off the road and set for the evening by 3 or 4. No stress.

The first few years we moved every week or two, trying to get the feel for how long we wanted at each place, etc. We have fairly large tanks (100 gal fresh, 100 gal grey, 80 gal black) so we can go ~12 days with just a little big of water conservation tactics. We also did a loop each year, coming back to our old home town to do physicians/dentists, etc. and then spend Christmas with our DD and SIL. Then we moved to celebrating at Thanksgiving because we got caught a couple of times in ice after Christmas on our way out of Texas. After about 4 years we started doing longer winter stays - 3 months in the Phoenix area and then moved our physicians to the area and now do 6 months here and 6 months on the road.

I add all this up, enter into an easy trigonometry equation, then remember that I still have a job and this month's vacation schedule is already petered out, so go back to S&B.
Since I'm not a full timer, the answer to my equation is much different than yours.

In the winter we will stay for a couple of months where it does not snow. Then the rest of the year usually 1-3 weeks in one spot or until we are done exploring that area.

Remember you will need days ot do "house stuff". You will quickly get out of vacation mode and into "living" mode.

Long enough to see everything in the area of interest, then on to the next place not over 300 miles. Repeat.

We Hit the Road to travel, explore, have an adventure not to sit/live in an RV parked somewhere for months

We also traveled using secondary/backroads and stayed away from using Interstates
Stay a week or 2 weeks then off to next place --where ever that was
Monday was travel day....leave at 10AM---parked/set up and having an adult beverage under the awning by 3PM
250 miles MAX between destinations...once only moved 4 miles for another week (Fall Colors in Upper NY State)

Put more miles on truck exploring the local sights during that week or two then traveling between spots

Loved it..........12 trips across the USA cost to coast/border to border and tried to not use same route twice
