Mail forwarding

We will be full time in our motorhome soon and would appreciate any thoughts on the best mail forwarding service for Florida residents.

Check out St. Brendan's Isle. That is who we use and are quite happy with it.

My state of residence is SD but I use my son's home in CA as my billing address. All my mail goes to my son. He screens it, tosses the trash, and upon my contacting him, he stuffs it in a USPS box [if it fits, it ships] and sends it to me at an address [sometimes General Delivery] I give him.
I do electronic mailing, banking and billing as much as possible to reduce paper mail.

We just started using MYRVMAIL.com out of Crestview, Florida. It is the same business that Good Sam's uses. You can join from either web site. Works great for us.

There is another place in Florida that I have heard good things about but have never used. It is called St. Brendan's Isle. mail forwarding service.

When you are traveling around just have the mail forwarding service to send your mail in care Of General Delivery to a Post Office near you. Just verify the PO will except General Delivery in your name. Usually all you have to do is show your drivers license. Just pick a small town with one PO.

Or have your mail sent to a friend in Florida.

We do all our banking on-line so most of the mail we receive is junk and I can have the mail forwarding service shred what I don't want.

You will want to use the mail forwarding service address for your drivers license renewal and RV & car registrations as well as your insurance companies.

Hope that helps and good luck.

Hi FredV,

Although we're not full time, we have, for the last couple of years, spent 4 months at a time away from home.

We considered using neighbors (who had eagerly volunteered) and children to forward our mail for us. Ultimately, we elected to NOT do that, for a variety of reasons.

The first year, we used a local permanent mail box service that promised to hold and forward on demand. It was awful! Although I can't prove it, I believe that the proprietor was getting a kick-back for selecting more expensive forwarding options.

The second year, we used:
https://www.myrvmail.com/. We have been completely satisfied with their service. Completely satisfied. They offer a full range of forwarding options.

Take care,
Stu

MyRVmail.com for second year and love the ability to check online to see what's in our box. We can then select by item whether to forward, or trash. They will open and scan for you too for a $1.50 fee and e-mail to you. You keep an account balance for all fees and can replenish Online. Then select shipping method and address. This has been our full time legal address and love it.

Check into Americas-Mailbox Home - mail forwarding - Americas-Mailbox and see if it is a good fit.

When we were FL residents we used http://mailboxforwarding.com. They offer Michigan, Florida, or California street addresses, and will recycle, scan or forward your mail per your instructions. YOU pick the exact service used to forward the mail, and the exact charges are given to you prior to committing. They also offer an incoming only fax service which goes to your mail account with your own fax number. We were very, very happy with their service and only changed to another provider when we moved to Seattle. Our present provider is "Earth Class Mail", which is based in Oregon, but has addresses in many major cities. Their service is also very good, but more business oriented and more expensive.

MailboxForwarding is a great service if you want to move your residency to FL and enjoy not paying state income tax if you work at home in your RV like I do. (Talking about a legitimate move to FL, where you go there and establish residency, insurance, licenses, etc. at a local address in your RV per state law, not a scam.) We were FL residents for years before we started full-timing and had no problem with any government organization either state or federal with our MailboxForwarding street address. (Pompano Beach, FL). On only two occasions in 3 years did I have a problem with my mail being mishandled. Both were minor problems and were cheerfully fixed when I inquired. The only somewhat minor gripe I had with this service was that mail going to my FL address was forwarded to Michigan for handling. This resulted in a delay in receiving mail which caused me to miss a few deadlines. If you handle your bills by mail, use the Michigan address for bills to eliminate the delay, but avoid doing this for everything to avoid inadvertently changing your residency. I handle all my bills electronically online so this was a minor issue for me.

We have used MYRVMAIL for 7 years now. They are outstanding people. They also offer a good discount to Passport America card holders, as they are part of that group.

Can the mail forwarding address be used on a title or driver license?

That's South Dakota, not Florida.
