Mailing address issue with Amex

We went full time 18 months ago. We are using My Home Address for mail services and an address. Visited SD and got our DL and vehicles are all registered there.

Last year when I went about changing our address with credit card companies etc.....Amex rejected it. I called MHA and was advised to try again but leave our PMB number off. Well that worked just fine and we have been receiving what we needed from Amex since them.

Today I received a message on the Amex website asking to update our address or lose charging privileges. Tried to enter the SD address and a message states it won't accept because it's a P O Box.

We use this card for everything, points ya know, and would like to keep it but if they continue to force my hand I'll have to close the account, I guess.

Has anyone else had this issue? What did you do to resolve it?

I should add that I did a chat session with them and was assured the address issue would be corrected. I'll give them time to make the update.

Financial institutions have regulations they need to follow. There are crackdowns all over the place. Regulations are insane. I am a consultant who has done work for a number of different companies. This may be the impact of that. Could also be the exact address regardless of where you put PO or PMB and anything else has been flagged.
I've been an Amex cardholder since '88. Literally spent millions of dollars with them. Personally I am winding down all my points using them all over the place. Cashback is a much better deal anyway IMO.
So, when I go full time in a few short months and Amex doesn't like my address? See ya lata Amex. No skin off my back.

Well as of this morning the address has not been updated as I was told it would be in the chat session.

It may be time to move on.............

I had two CC's sent to a PMB but my AMEX went to the stick house. Never any problems with the two that went to the PMB.

Well just now it let me change it back to the SD address. We'll see how long it works this time.

May be time to research other options tho

I do not have PMB on there either. Which mail service are you using?

Amex seems to be the only one that is causing me grief

Mailing address issue with Amex

Amex was useful for business travel.
That is all!
My FCU is what keeps it all square. No fees since 1975.
Amex is truly old school and has not figured out how things really work best.
Hey, it is the least accepted card in most places now.
Give it up!

I don't use our AMX card anymore since Costco switched to Visa. Several other points cards out there that pay as well or better. As for the pmb address, AMX should be recognizing it as a mail service and not be a problem. They need to get their system updated. Escalate, and if no resolution dump AMX, IMHO.

I had no problem with Amex. Just used the # and then my pmb number.
