My wife and I are considering buying a couple of pieces of property, one that could be a Summer location and the other a Winter location. Outside of a traditional RV Park, are there any local municipalities that are zoned to allow the owner of a few acres to put in the basic utilities and park a motor home for 4 to 6 months at a time? Any other sources of information on this topic would also be appreciated. Thanks!!!

I am sure you will receive more than enough info on this, but from what I have learned from forums:
Each area and property can have diff. regs. re: placement of RV, installing septic, water, elect. etc. Some areas require 1 acre or more before you can put in a septic, etc. Find a piece of property, go to zoning and ask about that specific property. If you are serious about buying it put in writing in the offer what it must allow you to do. If possible get it in writing from zoning as well. Good luck. Let us know if you find something really good..you may get a lot of company.

There are many places where the zoning is not at all restrictive. Whether anyof them is a location you want to live in is another question. They will be mostly rural areas. Urban and suburban areas will generally not allow that sort of use, though there may be communities designed with RVs in mind, such as The Great Outdoors in Titusville, FL. TGO is not what I would call a traditional Rv park and you own yor own site. See TGO
Another such place is Mt Olive Shores in Florida. Similar RV communities are located in Florida and Arizona and are in available several price ranges.
