For the RV ers that are full time with no home, what kind of insurance to you have for your personal property, as home insurance usual insures your personal property in your RV!

We had FTrs Insurnace that covered the Truck & 5th wheel (auto type coverage) plus Slip/Fall --Accident Medical, personal property, full value replacement that reverted to Agreed Value after 5 yrs.

Basically you want Auto and Home Policy

There are a handful of companies that insure full timers, and the issue is not just personal property, it's also general liability.

If you're full-timing in an RV and don't have a full-timers endorsement on your RV, you could have an ugly surprise if you ever need to claim.

It wasn't a lot more on the premium for the full-timers.

National General and Progressive are ones I've used, and I think Liberty Mutual/Safeco might also. Probably others as well. State Farm does not. FMCA used to have a discount deal with National General.

Insurance on the motorhome and trailer are similar to home insurance and includes replacement cost of personal effects up to an agreed value.

The problem is that we do have RV insurance with Dejsardins Insurance, but they do not offer the personal property part! So, I am searching on who does the Personal property part of the insurance!

Progressive here.

Good coverage and the ability to chose personal property limits. I travel with four expensive telescopes, cameras/imagers, and a couple very expensive solar filters so personal property coverage is very important. The way equipment prices have climbed in the past couple years really forced me to increase my replacement coverage limits. Was super easy to bump up my coverage online, and the added coverage was very reasonable.

Jim, I see your profile indicates you are in Canada, as am I. When we full timed we had a policy for the motorhome, and one for personal belongings and gear. The latter being a quasi home policy. Reach out to Wayfarer insurance in Beaverton, ON. They can provide you with both policies, and a discount if you are an Explorer RV Club member.

Must be a Canadian insurance thing. I've never encountered a US-based RV insurance policy that did not include some Personal Property coverage, though it is often minimal unless you upgrade the amount. Not exclusively a fulltimer thing either.

General liability is a different story, though. That is often part of a "fulltimer" endorsement, but not always. If you don't have a homeowner or renter policy that includes general liability for you and your family members, check your RV policy or ask your agent.

Nat General full timers policy with full replacement value. Max they would do for personal property was $50k. I took it and itemized everything in the rv. It adds up quick!

We are FTers and went with a Progressive plan. It is a full timers policy and has some special additions on it that we needed. For example, we keep our golf cart and some tools in our shed on a leased Florida lot while traveling. Those things are covered.

I put a lot of money in the bank every year. I only carry liability. I've wasted over 75 grand on insurance I never got a penny back on. The pot's over a 100 grand in just a few years.

Yep, self insuring works until disaster strikes. Not sure how you could save $100k in a few years. My full timer policy with full replacement value and 50k in personal property is only $1800/year. But I digress.
I didn't get an rv extended warranty thinking I could fix most anything that came up. Well, then the engine self destructed. $18k to replace it. Another 5k in expenses. Sure wudda been nice to have a warranty.
Self insurance works, until, it doesn't.

It's all about risk management.

Ultimately.... is yours better than the insurance companies?

Some go through a lifetime never making claims and lose money, others have the eternal black cloud over their shoulder and are rewarded by keeping themselves well insured.
