We are researching a campground to book a seasonal site for next year. However, with traveling that sometimes changes randomly (as we all know

) we might not actually get there until a month or so into the season. We are of course going to pay the entire season in advance regardless. If we don't arrive at the beginning of our reservation, do we run the risk of the campground cancelling us assuming we are a no show? Should we inform them at time of booking that this might happen? Any advice how to handle?

If I understand your question, you are wondering if you book an RV site at a resort in, let's say Florida for example, from maybe December to April, but don't actually get there until the end of December will they still hold your site?

First of all, it is getting toward the end of September and many sites will be already spoken for in some of the more popular parts of Florida, Arizona, and probably Texas. Based on our experience, especially for Florida, most places want a deposit and a minimum of a 3 month stay reservation. I suspect if you don't show up on time they will still hold it but will insist you still pay.

When you book call and inform them that you may be coming in later, but are still willing to pay for the whole time.
We booked for 4 months in Arizona last year and we took off for a week and went to Yuma. When I asked the campground how to do this, their reply was it is your site for the complete 4 months, leave when you want and comeback when you want.

You need to contact the park and ask their policy. There's no one correct answer.

Can't you adjust your other things so that you can arrive on time and not waste that money?

We've alternated between Florida (4 months Dec-Apr) and Northern NY (6 months May-Oct) for the past 5 years. In between, we try to take a slightly different route each time targeting somewhere or something we want to see.

Both of our sites are reserved for the following season before we leave. A deposit in Florida is all we need there. In NY, a verbal commitment prior to departure and a deposit in November reserves our site. Then we have a couple of options for the balance due but it must paid in full by May 1st weather we are there or not.

For both sites, we always contact them if we are going to arrive any later than day one or leave early. It's never been a problem and both parks usually respond with "OK, we'll see you then. Have a safe trip".

I'm sure different parks have different policies, but in most cases, a simple phone call or pre arranged arrival or departure date should suffice.
