Using family member's address?

We start our fulltime adventure in June. Our daughter is graduating college and moving to Nashville. We thought about just using her address as our home address instead of using Escapees and claiming a domicile.

Is there any downside I'm missing? Tennessee does not have state income tax. I'm still working, but remotely.

Is using a family member's address as your own a common thing to do?

Thanks!

I do. My brother is fine with it. Not a big deal at all.

You'll still need to claim a domicile, but in this case it would be your daughter's address. Driver's licenses, registrations, health insurance...

Remember that you'll need fulltimer insurance (which is different than regular RV insurance).

That is exactly what the State of Michigan told me to do. I'm not changing my state of domicile so I don't have an issue there but I don't see you having a problem with using your daughter's address for your driver's license etc.

I too am considering TN.

My son is a sheriff there.

I live on Cape Cod MA.

I'm so tired of getting my clocked cleaned out in [moderator edit] (high tax) states.

I don't want to give it away anymore.

2 more years for us to head out.

Any downsides....In my book Oh ya..
In addition to the things mentioned above, your "Will", tax returns virtually everything about your life will now become your daughters address.

For me, I would never use a family's address or anyone else's address for that matter for so many reasons, but one of the main one's is, now my entire life—from my mail, my banking, my tax returns, everything—is centered on my daughters address. If she moves, now I got to change all that stuff again and additionally rely on her to forward packages, my mail and all that. No way am I doing that. We're full time now and part of that new life style is being independent not dependent on family or friends.

We are Escapees in Texas, no state income tax, the address is permanent for everything we need.

I also decided that I didn't want to use my daughter's Texas address. In the first 10 yrs of being out they moved 6 times! Our address is the same as it was in 2006 - Livingston, Tx.

We lived in Knoxville tn for 20 years. We went ful time 5 years ago and went with a sd domicile because of the awesome 4% sales tax vs tn 9.25%. We planed on major truck and RV purchases so this was a big deal for us. Also we found that having family deal with our mail had turned into a whole thing about letting us know and sending pictures etc so we just became fully independent. We have everything online and through sd and the mailing service is top notch. The only establishment that won't accept our sd domicile address is our bank, so that's all we use our grandsons tn address for but nothing Go's to him anymore , it's all online. Jump all in and enjoy the adventure, no regrets

Problem solved if you use a nationwide bank.

BOA absolutely refuses our sd domicile residency mailing address, they say its a buisness and we must provide a physical dwelling. That's our outcome anyway, I'm sure different branches and it depends on who you get that might make the differance.

WE 'domicled' in SD
BOA was our original banking institute and remained so....absolutely no issues with BOA or any other financial institute

As mentioned above....
Set up YOUR own address vs family
Family would have to forward your mail, deal with any issues etc.

Get your Own address be it in TN or TX or FL or anywhere else you which to claim as your 'home' then register your vehicles, register to vote, set up your Insurances (vehicle/medical), change of address to ALL parties, set up on-line banking for ALL reoccurring billing
Nice thing about mail-forwarding service...junk mail---you can get rid of that

We had so little snail mail that we only had to have any mail forwarded roughly 3X a year
They would notify us of 'important' mail so it made FTng so simple
