Best Size Class A DP or Class C for both

I am in the long journey of buying a motorhome. I cant decide on Class A DP or a Class C Jayco Seneca. The coach will be used 90% of the time in places with full hook up but it will spend 1-2 weeks a year out west boon docking.

Is there a size you would strongly recommend or say stay away from?

It really depends on what you intend to do with it, how big is your family, etc. This question really does not give us much to go on, it is sort of like asking should I buy a full size SUV or a full size Ford van. Each has advantages and disadvantages, on top of that you ask for a comparison of the whole world of diesel pushers vs one specific super C.

Yes Sir I know.. As far as the world of Class A's against one Class C is because if its a C then I know it would be a Seneca. As far as a Class A, I have no clue. As far as number of people, at the most 5-6. Wife and I and the grandkids. If my son was to take it on vacation, he has a family of 5. I do not know the world of Class A's as far as boon docking for ground clearance, raised rail chassis, and things of that nature. Its all kind of foreign language to me. Also is 40' too big for boon docking? I know parks and such can restrict to 36' so that is where the question is coming from.

I know we get into personal choice but I dont want too big and dont want too small. Million dollar question I know but just looking for input I guess.

I think I would worry less about boondocking. Worry more about creature comforts and what the family likes. Boondocking is much easier once you know the MH.
Good Luck

When we were in Fort Pickens (Pensacola), a Mercedes similar to this one came through for an overnight. It had plenty of ground clearance.

My wife and I hosted our three grandchildren for six days in our 27-foot LazyDaze Class C (no slides). It worked out fine.

You can boondock in almost any RV, if properly equipped and you run a tight ship. The most boondocking we've done is to spend three days on water-only service at Mather Campground at the Grand Canyon. But I've known others with smaller and larger coaches who boondock regularly.

We used public parks or boondocked on national forest or BLM lands 95% of our full-timing. We had a 40' motorhome towing a Jeep. Naturally, we didn't take the motorhome over Jeep trails but any RV can go on good gravel roads. We found our spot and took the Jeep exploring. Driving 20 miles on a gravel roads is not problem. We also did that in Alaska.

As far as length for public parks, again, we stayed in many with our 40' with no problems. You just have to do your research. We fit in many national parks, state parks, national forest campground, Corp of Engineers, county and city parks.

Just get the size you'd be comfortable living in during rainy days. They all won't be sunny!

You made your toughest decision - to buy a diesel. The next is floorplan and amenities. We can't help with that. Floorplan floorplan floorplan. Budget is also a concern.
I would remove boondocking as part of the search criteria if it is for maybe 1-2 weeks a year. You can figure out where you can fit way ahead of time if it is only for such a short time so infrequently.
I always liked the Seneca but know that it is a front mounted diesel. You lose all the benefits of the engine being so far behind you including square footage for living.

I'm not aware that a super C would be any better for dry camping than any ClassA DP - both are probably designed very similar - large inverter, quad batteries, larger holding tanks, larger generators w AGS, etc...

our Palazzo very works well off grid, though the floor plan was our greatest concern...

The SuperCs generally have more towing capacity, if that is of concern, and sit the driver a little lower...

Best floor plan for YOUR USE. Number of batteries and Gen, maybe some solar for boondocking but not a cost efficient option for your use but quiet. And water and waste tank sizes, gray tank needs to be BIG for none hookup.

Yes Sir. I have figured out the water supply numbers but as far as inverters and size of generator i am still learning? Any suggestions? Also feel free to suggest water supplies even though I said I had them figured out.

Look closely at the cargo carrying capacity, CCC, of each. When you carry most of what you own with you you'll need lots!

Is a 2000 inverter large enough to run the entire coach if you switch the refrigerator over to gas when boon docking or does it need to be bigger?
