Boondocking BLM Style in Canada

I was visiting with a person from Saskatchewan I met while camping on BLM land near Quartzsite. He is planning on spending all next winter on BLM land. He had payed $225/mo for dry camping at the La Paz County Park for 3 months. Next year he will just get the $180 season pass. He doesn't think there are any boondocking places like the BLM lands in Canada. In such a large country with a lot of wilderness, I find that hard to believe. Does any one know of equivalent areas for camping in Canada?

We have millions of acres of public land that are open to random camping/boondocking/squatting....we do it nearly every weekend.

BLM stands for Bureau of Land Management. It is public land that can be used for recreational purposes and also leased for grazing, timber and a few other things. About BLM

and not just in Ontario.
