Boondocking Cleveland, OH

Hello everyone,

I will be passing by Cleveland,OH and would like to spend one night boondocking. Does anyone have a safe suggestion for a place around the Cleveland area.

Thanks in advance,

Stuart

Lots of Walmarts in the area. We pass by that area too a few times per year and if necessary grab any Walmart parking lot off the I71/I90 corridor that has quick on off access. Gives us a nice opportunity to shop and refill the frig.

There are a lot of Walmarts n the area but quite a few no longer allow RV parking overnight. For instance the one a mile or so from the Parma VA clinic (Brookpark Road?) is now posted as no RV parking.

Cleveland is large enough to have the problem that some Walmarts are not in particularly safe areas. You could also try Pilot/Flaying J's and Travel America. The one at the intersection of I-71 and I-76 has free dumping and the buffet is sometimes good- that means sometimes bad too. Overnight delivery trucks often take the RV spots so arrive early. The pilot acropss the road has a large truck lot that never seems to fill.

Sadly there is no accurate online listing for parking/no parkuing. The Yahoo group used to be the best but many of us stopped sending in corrections. There were at least a dozen errors, that I saw, on the last one I downloaded. Allstays and the rest are at least as bad.

Part of problem of parking info is how it changes so fast. I know of two stores in California where overnight parking depends on who is manager. One overnight manager allows it and one does not. So you parking status depends on a work schedule.

I know one location that welcomed RVers for years. Someone dumped their black tank last month and now they don't allow anyone to overnight any more. But all the older reports will say it is fine until you arrive and find out otherwise. So the info from any source is only as good as the previous night.

Join Boondockers Welcome

www.boondockerswelcome.com has 3 or 4 locations on the outskirts of Cleveland -free, safe camping offered by fellow RVers on their private property.
Overnight RV Parking is also a good source. They list Walmarts that don't allow parking as well as those that do.
Both require an annual fee (but it's less than one night in a campground).

Thanks everyone,

I will check out the Walmarts, the truck stops, boondockerswelcome and overnight rv parking. They all see like a viable option.

Best,

Stuart

If you will be on the Ohio Turnpike some of the fuel plaza's have overnite RV parking with power and water. Dump close by. $20.00 per nite I think.
