Boondocking in a Storage facility?
This just occurred to me, as I was thinking about how my storage cost for a month is about as much as it costs to camp two nights. Storage is cheap! :-) So, why not camp there? If one is self-contained, and doesn't trash the facility, it should be acceptable. It might not be pretty, but there are storage facilities in many pretty parts of the nation.

All of them that I have used state that it is not only against their policy but against local ordinances (think of the liability).

Ditto. A money saving idea, but a bad one, IMHO.

Why would you want to miss out on the fun of boondocking in the Wal Mart lot? It's much more entertaining.

I considered it, as the town I need to stay in while new cabinets are being made has an ordinance against Walmart boondocking. At first I was moving to a different shopping center every night. Then a friend talked to the president of her HOA and got a "if nobody complains" approval for me to park in front of her house.
This is a snooty bedroom community, can ya tell?

Why doesn't the ordinance apply to the other shopping centers?

I think it does, but I honestly don't think anyone cares. Walmart has signs posted, the other centers don't. As long as I only stay one night in each, nobody gets their skivvies in a tangle about us being there.
I used to live here. Most Okies are friendly and easy to get along with. There was a HUGE fight against letting Walmart in town. Having the homeless camped out in the parking lt was one of the arguments posed by the opposition. The no overnight parking was probably enacted to appease them.
