Boondocking Spots Along I-20/I-10

We are heading home from Dallas area. I’ll be looking for a few spots to spend the night along the way. Besides Flying J, Loves, Cracker Barrel’s, Wal-Marts any suggestions?……. Love traveling but it’s time to head home.

Thanks LeeB

Plug in a town when you're ready to stop and see what's around:

Not many free camping options in the region, but there are some fairly cheap municipal park RV campgrounds in southwestern Louisiana not too far off I-10 for under $20 per night. See here for one example https://www.calcasieu.gov/services/p...white-oak-park

There are some low cost/ no cost locations a bit north of I-20. I find US-380/ US-180/ US-82/ US-70 good alternatives to I-20/10 across west Texas/ eastern NM.

Rodeo RV - City Park - Lamesa, TX
Seminole City Park - Seminole City, TX
Coleman RV - Brownfield, TX
Yoakum County Park - Denver City, TX
Randolph Rampy RV - Tatum, NM

In the White Sands / Alamogordo area is nice boondocking BLM area - right near the entrance of Oliver Lee Memorial SP on Dog Canyon RD - the Dog Canyon Dispersed Campground.

May Need to swing by Motorhomes of TX in Nacogdoches and see about swapping coaches..

Imperial Sand Dunes/ BLM pilot Knob off I-10 just west of Winterhaven is a nice boondocking spot. But be careful of washouts and stay on tire tracks.

The rest areas on 10 and 20 are good for overnights.

Specifically the El Paso Welcome center / Rest stop is a good spot for a quick overnight if it matches your travel pattern.
