I consider boondocking to be any time you are staying in your units and are not hooked up to electric water or sewer. Location does not matter because you still have to manage your electric, water and sewage holding regardless of the scenery around you.

Bingo X 1.99 ... you (almost) nailed it.

I say "almost" because if one wants to not pic a word definition - boondock camping COULD THEORETICALLY be done in an RV that's temporarily hooked into free standing permanent solar panels, a well, and a septic tank/leach field system - with all that being located way out someplace on the far side of beyond. Hence "Boondocking: Camping in a remote location, with the RV either dry or attached to locally sourced hookups."

I always figure just because it's free, it's always boondocking. We done or cracker barrel, rest areas, bass proshop, cabella, etc.. i have a handful of county and city parks wit and without electric and water hookups. I would not consider any of these boondocking.
