Don’t Go Boondocking Without It
Boondockers, what sort of items have you found indispensable while out in the wild?
Water, fuel, propane are essentials, but what about the things that are out of the norm??? Stuff that came in handy on site. Example... Axe, rope, wood bocks.

Those things kind of depend on where you will boon-dock and why.. If you are in gold county, then gold panning equipment, if around Ghost towns then maybe metal detectors. A shovel, ax and limb saw can be very handy in forested areas, as well as buckets. Beach area's rope or tow strap could come in handy if you or someone else gets stuck in sand or loose rock.
Just think about where you will be and what you will be doing while there and possible problems that could come up and pack accordingly.

Plastic covered 15 ft dog lead with clips on either end tends to be the handiest thing. Rarely use it for the dog, but it always useful during our stay.

Water filters that can take stream or lake water and make it potable. Nylon cord sufficient for bracing tarps/rain fly. A VERY complete tool kit. Spares for fuses, LED's. I do have a saw that I use for river rescue (handy for cutting plastic boats apart) which can in a pinch double in limbing trees etc.

It doesn't matter what you take.... You'll ALWAYS NEED something that you DON'T HAVE... After you HAVE it... you'll NEVER NEED it again

If you bring it, you might need it.
If you dont bring it, you will.
What we aint got, we dont need. But we do know how to improvise.

A good quality multi-purpose tool, those Swiss Army like pliers that double over.
You never know when you'll need to McGyver something.

So far the only boondocking we have done is in the Walmart parking lot or ilk. But we are hoping to do more REAL boondocking in the future. So I am paying close attention to the answers and have picked up a few pointers.
DH believes the comment if you don't have it you'll need it, if you do, you won't.
We will keep plenty of gas in the tow in case we need to go to town to pick up something.
Maybe that should be added to the list!
