We have seen MREs at the base commissary too. If you know any retired military out there who will pick up some for you.... On a different note....Our two favorite items to store and make meals: Spam and Salmon. Canned salmon is good with pasta or as salmon patties. Spam is just good eats! Well, to be honest we only have three good Spam recipes, but we like it.

Just an FYI, due to hurricane disaster relief efforts, Longlifefood.com no longer is offering full meal MREs. Everything in that line is going to the hurricane areas. They will begin to offer them again when the disaster relief effort subsides.

I just filled up my new Engel 65 with meat and such. It is suppost to use only 2.5 amps at 12 volts OR LESS.
Now maybe if I catch some fish I will have a place to put them.

Zetron, please keep us/me informed about the Engel 65. I just about have my freezer filled and the hunting season has barely started.
I'll be real interested to know if a small (60w or so) solar panel and one 12V battery will power that thing 24 x 7.

Please don't ask any retired military to do that. It is a very quick way for them to lose their commissary privileges.

News flash for those with sweet teeth: It's that time of year again. Walmart now has Peppermint Stick ice cream.

I like this flavor. I assume it's in the freezer dept rather than in a cone. What brand is it???
And thanks

Does anyone have a good recipe or tip for making fried rice? I made my first attempt the other day using a recipe I got off the web but it was very disappointing.
