Fun new way to scout campsites in the forest

This is a little too exciting for me -- but if you are an adventurous boondocker, this vehicle may work for you:

Actually, I like cruising with my truck at SLOW speeds along those two-track forest roads, looking for good campsites. That's part of the fun!

Interesting they do not show how loud that actually is.

While they were cruising along a nice open trail, what happens if a random branch is sticking out.......

Since we are so large cruising the trails with our set up is too risky. We use google maps a lot. If we get into an area we are unsure of we usually off load the SxS. I did have to back out almost a mile one time my wife turned me down road that did not exist......

I wonder if that's even legal in the national forests.

Yup, sure is. National park, maybe not so much. Depends on the location. Wouldn't try it in a wilderness area though, but I don't think there are any rules that apply at the moment. Fine to take your helicopter or glider for a spin, so I don't see why not. Would be great to see rangers trying to flag one of these down to give them a ticket though.

In the U.S. it's classified as an ultralight.

Wouldn't you love to have it go around your campsite? Chasing the wildlife so that they run and run? Not me.

That is an aircraft and thus you can only land/takeoff from designated airstrips within USFS land. Of course wilderness is even more restrictive. On BLM land it would be legal as they are the least restrictive.

Yay, it will fit in my on-board garage

I agree with nwcid, a narrow forested trail is not the place for this vehicle. If a random branch is sticking out and strikes one of those rotors, game over! I am sure that the forested trail depicted in the ad was meticulously vetted before the pilot was sent down it--by a conventional 4-wheeled vehicle. I would think dunes or deserts would be more appropriate for that contraption.

I would be more interested in something like this:

When approaching an on coming vehicle, who has the right-of-way?

Ya, I thought I spied a couple of Ewoks in that video in the forest near the side of the road at 0:32!

Wouldn’t mind trying one of those but would need a bigger size. Incidentally, I research all my boondocking locations with google earth from my recliner....
