Still stuck at home (aren't we all?), combing through my archives instead of doing something productive. Oh, well.

This shot was taken in August of 2010 -- we were boondocking not too far from the North Entrance to Crater Lake. The rocky rim of the lake (but not the lake itself) can be seen in the background -- our trailer is in the lower left corner of the shot.

This looks like Paradise, doesn't it? It was nice and quiet, and very well located. But the mosquitoes were fierce!

On our way to Crater Lake after visiting the Northwest, we debated whether it was worth going to the lake -- there were not many good hikes, it is far away, why bother going to see yet another lake? But we decided "why not, what have we got to lose?"

It turned out to be one of the most spectacular places we've ever visited. Don't miss it, if you can possibly make the trip. This shot has not been digitally altered -- this is the real color -- peacock blue:

It's really real. I don't know if the lake changes color in spring or fall due to the sun angle, but in mid-summer, that's what it looks like.

You can even swim in that color -- if you can deal with the cold water. There is one place where you can hike down to the lake. There is no place to change, so put on your bathing suit before you hike down. (Don't ask how I know this.)

July of 2011, east of Ft. Bragg, California. And yes, those are redwood trees. But they are second-growth -- around a hundred years old. As far as I know, there is no way to boondock among truly ancient redwoods or sequoias.

Not nearly as dramatic as the west coast, but happy to oblige. NY / VT border.

Looks interesting. I'm planning a trip to NY near Lake Erie (family visit) the first of June. Plan on seeing Niagra Falls for the first time. If the border is open, might head back home via Canada into Michigan then back south to home.
