Propane Veterans- what is this connector?

I was looking around for a way to install an extend-a-stay and came across this "connector" behind a rubber cover.

Is this usable in any practical way?

Uncle Dave, I am not sure what that is. But that is where I put my extended stay tee fitting. That way it is between the main valve and the on board regulator. Hope this tid bit of info helps.

I apparently incorrectly thought propane "parts" weren't Coach/brand specific sir,

Coach is a 98 Beaver Monterey Cat 3216 allison 6 speed this specific connector is plumbed on the liquid vs vapor side for an Onan 6300 emerald propane unit.

Thanks for taking a look.

UD, If that valve is labeled "liquid" then do not tap into it. You'll need to use the vapor valve plumbing. Now that you said the item you are questioning is plumbed into Liquid for your genset here's what it is. It's a relief valve. Put the rubber cover back on it to keep it from corroding.

And, you're right......propane tanks and piping are pretty generic

I believe it's a pressure release valve. If the PSI gets too high it will release excess pressure and then reseal.

Got it -

So a honda 2K runs off vapor but an Onan 6300 requires liquid.

Is there a determinable "breakpoint" where one splits liquid from vapor?

Thanks.

Not as easy as your question implies. Lots of variables. I.e. distance from supply, engine fuel demand, liquid cooled or air cooled engine and many more determine fuel system choice rather than necessarily engine cid

Great.

After optimizing my toy hauler gasoline power/energy strategy "managed" I move into the variables and issues of another fuel.

Im convinced I should back up my HUGE emerald 6300 with a 2K adapted for propane to use when boondocking.

Hey Dave, Your LP appliances use regulated gas, they draw vapor from the vapor tube (short tube in the tank) stove, fridg, furnace etc; Liquid ( long tube in tank)must be converted to a gas and then regulated to burn, your generator...it has a converter or a mixer to convert liquid to gas then it must be regulated to burn properly....Your tank has liquid in the bottom and vapor above, hence the long tube and the short tube....don't hook your gas grill to liquid!!!! your steaks will be toast!

Oh ya, sorry, its a pressure relief valve it will have a value stamped on it like 250 psi, just make sure it points away from hot spots!

UD, I was not trying to mislead you in anyway. From the photo it looks like the valve on my main tank and the white item resembels my regulator. If is mounted to your gen set I have no idea what it is.

I am assuming you're talking about one of Honda's 2K super quiet and compact gensets.......right? If that's what you';re talking about you're going to be taking on a very complicated and potentially impossible project......as in where will you source parts? IMHO you would be better off to put your money into upgraded solar power
