Quartzsite ?

I am heading back to Quartzsite this weekend for a few days. What's the current weather and outlook for rain. Also how congested are the 14 day BLM areas.

Weather in Q

I'm in a 5er on Plamosa Rd, and at about 4:30 it's finally starting to clear after a night and day of rain, sometimes light, sometimes not. There are a lot of puddles, spots that look soft probably are.

There's lots of room along here, that's no problem at all, at least not yet.

We are in La Posa Tyson Wash, and we drove into La Posa South yesterday too. Tyson Wash still has plenty of room, and South has room too, though perhaps not as much (it is always busier). Things are filling up at the two spots closer to town. Weather finally cleared up. Though there are still some puddles, the washes have stopped running.

So this Gov't shutdown is not having any impact on the registration?

I'm boondocked on Plomosa road and there's still plenty of room. and the government shutdown has had no effect on me at all. My understanding is you can register with the host but the Rangers are not here checking anything. I could be wrong on that but that's what I heard.

Wondering if the "hardpack" sand there hard enough for leveling jacks without sinking? Or should I whip up some 2x8's or other pads to put under them?

We always carried pads for the jacks.

I put pads under The landing gear of my Arctic Fox fifth wheel also. But I only recently started doing that. I boondocked in Quartzsite for years without pads and never had a problem sinking in.

My favorite spot out here on Plomosa, my rear jacks push pushed in ~8-10” TWICE. The first time I filled the hole with bolders, and they compressed back down onnthe second push. I filled it again and covered it with a crane outrigger pad. Sheeesh!

We just returned for Quartzsite this past weekend. We boondock off of Dome Rock Road. to me there were less people than in the past. Big tent had just as much people though as in the past.

I am on Plamosa Road now. At 11:00am it is sunny, very windy and 49F. I don't think I have ever seen so many RVs here. Just came from Imperial Dam near Yuma, same thing.

Just left today, was at Dome Rock BLM. Plenty of room. I was parked close to the Camp Groumd Host, never saw him. Plenty of people at the event. cold and very windy. Have fun.
