Hello I see your post sat unanswered for several months. Priest Lake is the jewel of the area and surrounded by pay parks, state on one side and federal on the other. they have very hard winters. I have spent many memorable nights camping on the islands on Priest and kept a boat there. Families have camped there for generations and know how to secure a site. For other ideas that are free, try campendium or free campsites.net. Keep in mind in summer, it's highly competitive for any camping. Good luck.

There are 250,000 acres of public land around the lake. On the east side is state land, on the west side is the Kaniksu National Forest.

If you are looking for lake front access that is going to be limited to improved camping areas with reservations and fees.

If you are wiling to just stay in the area, there are a ton of possibilities.

There is a nice gravel pit area about .25 miles off of Hwy 57 next to the ranger station. We spent a couple of weeks there last year. Plan on doing it again in the future.
