Cola 2022

Social Security COLA is going to increase by 5.9%

That will also apply to Military Retirees and Disabled Veterans in 2022

Retirees.... $59 increase for every $1,000 of pension they receive.

Disabled Vets.... $8.50 per month for each 10% increment of disability.

Pretty much. I feel for anyone who has nothing but SS to live on. It can barely be done here I Mexico. I couldn’t imagine trying in the USA.

Years ago people went to work for “the company” 40 years and got a pension. Today 5 years is the average length a person stays at a job. But I guess it doesn’t matter anyway as few companies offer any type of decent pension.

Normally, the SS COLA raise will be less than the amount they hold out for medical....bottom line for us is a net loss.

Medicare part B is going up 14.5%. So the COLA victory is short lived.

I'm sure Tricare premiums and co-pays will also increase.

So since 14.5% is 8.6% more than 5.9% it will be an overall net loss of 8.6%?

The Medicare increase will be a net loss to those individuals getting less than approximately $350 a month SS. It ( COLA increase ) will be a gain for all others.

I recall the early 70s reenlistment promises of lifetime free medical care for military retirees and their families.

The forced “voluntary” Medicare program to retain Tricare sure undercut that promise.

They sold us the same bag of manure in the early '80's about lifetime medical. I do not trust VA Healthcare so that diversion to lifetime medical doesn't work for me either. Thank goodness for Vitamin M...
