Do You Miss It

I retired from the Navy 8/91 and then worked very close with the Navy and Marines for 15 more years as a Tech. Rep. I could go on but all I have to ask is,"Do You Miss It." You know what I mean.

Heck yes,

It's not the same as it once was. It and we all change.
I don't let yesterday interfer with tomorrow. One can always military fix by camping on a a base.

Bill, not only do/did I miss it! I went back! Well, in a way! You can too!
Even though I only did one hitch in the early 70's I always wished I had made a career of it as you did. Then several years ago (I think it happens after 50) I found the way to feed the need! I joined the veteran crew on a historical ship (hense, the moniker here). Whenever I get the chance I don the utilities and cross the brow! I enter into a welcomed and familiar world! I get yelled at by old Chief's again and finally get to sit and have coffee in the Chief's mess!
This year I will be redoing the outside of my rig. I think you will appreciate the plan!

I am hoping the stern will keep those tailgaters back!

Yes. Especially the time I served with the USMC as an FMF Corpsman.

Doc, thanks so much for serving alongside us. I think you know how we felt about you guys.

I've been retired for coming up on 9 years now and I'm still engaged with the military thru my current job. Things are so different now.

Forty Four years total military and DOD civilian time and retired a great civil service job early due to health issues. Enjoy the six Saturdays and a Sunday weeks and since most of our friends are active or retired military and we go to the base often so really things havn't changed much.

Do You Miss It?

20 years after retiring from 36 years in the submarine service I still am not used to people who can't be fully trusted. We were more like monks or Templars. Of course I miss it.

Yes, and no. My first two years of civilian life were spent as a contractor and then my next job had a fair bit of military contact, so I got to ease out. Today, almost all of our technical staff are veterans.
