Hello Veterans

Hello Joe the New Guy here.
Thought I would drop-in and say Morning. I just found the board the other day and I like it!!
I served with the Army 69-71 last of the Drafted. I was with the 1st Cav in Viet Nam as a Crew chief on Hueys. Four yrs. ago I started suffering the effects of Agent Orange but that's Life. Well that's my Two Cents.

Wayne,

I served in the Army as a combat engineer/ bridge specialist. I was in Chulai from Sept.70 to Sept.71. Then back again for three months while in the Navy in 75 when Siagon fell. Two questions I always ask, when ever I meet a vet from Vietnam. Are you Type 2 Diabetic? and Have you filed for your claim?

AF '69-'70 and April '75 during the evacuation of Saigon -- lost several buddies on the C-5 BabyLift crash :(:(:( Spent 30yrs in the AF with many TDYs all over SE Asia. Type-2, cervical and spinal issues; 2 heart attacks and a quintuple bypass; PTSD and my VA psysc says I'm crazy'! What more could a man ask for -- got a beautiful wife, two little girls (Bichons), and many RV'ing buddies. C-130 loadmaster, worked tactical airlift -- airdrops, LAPES, etc.

Thumbs up

Wow looks like there's a home for us "Ol' Guys" - I served in the USAF from 62 - 66. Got to see the beautiful but cold sides of the US. Two years in S.Dak. and 2 years in Alaska. Viet Nam was just getting cranked up when I was discharged.

Brother Tom, I was also the lucky recipient of a 'cold weather' tour. Beautiful island of Greenland, Thule AB -- I really enjoyed the tour and would go again if I wasn't too old!

Wayne,
If you are 70% then you are also unemployable and can get that raised to 100%.
See your VA rep (DAV, AMLegion, etc)

I hope with the present "economic" situation we don't loose any benefits.

the other Wayne sends.

Welcome to "Wayne's World."

Welcome home to all the Nam vets!!!!!!
I was with the 1st Cav in '65. Was in Recon plt for 2/7 (Garry Owen). Survived Ia Drang Valley--both LZXRAY & LZALBANY.
100% PTSD. I'm a mess!!!! I have to say that fulltime RVing has been a great for me. I used to stay in our house for days at a time. Just didn't want to deal with people. Now (after 9 yrs FT)--I still like lots of 'lone time' but have to get out for hookups, etc. I'm a lot more sociable now. Still find myself looking for snipers as I drive or am in a dense wooded area. 8 yrs counseling, daily doses of Zoloft, I can recognize the things that 'trigger' me and just walk away from them if I can.

Hi all,

Retired Army in 1990, started as a drafted non-volunteer in 1968. Did 68-73 in Nam, they didn’t like me staying in one place. Was stationed in NaTrang, LongBenh, CamLo, DongHa. I have no VA percentages. I am perfectly normal. No Type 2 or any other, but have had 2 heart attacks. I now work for the Navy. I also have been back to Nam 4 times over the last 10 years to visit. I was really disappointed 2 trips ago when I went to the DMZ and there is nothing there but a monument that on one side says North and the other South. I just got back 3 weeks ago for TET and had a really good time in DaNang, HoiAn and Saigon. They even have a great new golf course in between DaNang and HoiAn. You would be surprised at all the Non-Oriental people that live, work and vacation there. One of these days maybe we can do a campground REUNION some place. Later got to go back to work.
